sorry, but atr is definately not a christian band. That is a complete rumor and in many interviews I've read with the band, when that question comes up, the response is "nope, not at all". Although I do believe that some (if not all) the members are actually christians. Phil has addressed the seemingly christian lyrics and has said he "just writes what comes to mind" and that the references and interpretations are coincidental.

The song is talking about how he is being tempted in a way and the craving is strong, but this calling refers to him being born again and that he found god and that he will help him through phils struggle and claim victory, and in the christain life, the flesh is weak, and your strengths are always tested, but phil beleives that he will persevere through this trial of temptation. Great song I can completly relate to it becuse me being a christain myself I have dealt with purity struggles, but I know that god is faithful and pull me through.

Or he could be talking about a addiction to heroin "scars cravings" feeling a snece of guilt that the addiction is fighting with him at all times. Just another interpration any of these can be right but its not really about that its about how we feel when we hear it that's why music is such a great thing it make us think tells stories helps and even if the lyrics can have a thousand meanings and interprataions there is no doubt that you still like the song for whatever reason it is. Even in classical music you hear it and make your own feelings to that piece. Its a great song atr is a great band :)

The song is about phil being tempted for somthing and the craving is like no other and even though he wants it so bad he will stick to what he knoes is true and no follow througb with it cuz he knows what the concequesnces are, and even when he doesn't want to beleive it he still sticks to it. There is definatly some christian motives in this song due to trial of temptaion and dealing with sin. And this calling could refer to being born again to a new hope, that he found a way to over come it, meaning god or somthing, but hedefinatly claimed victory for sure. This song I can relate cuz me being a cristain myself this song describes exactly how difficult it can be with facing temptation, cuzz with me it dealt with purity struggles, but with jesus, I have victiry.

I think its about a young man struggling with the addiction of lust. " I secretly crave, crave that scent again, still feel it pressing on my now, now with the onset, my flesh is weakening, I steal my neaves for tempations at hand again." This shows his addictions and tempations. The breakdown of the song -- "Not falling victim...see me through." is about the young mans battle, and he is making a point to stand against lust. And I think the chorus is about the young man trying to fight and God is the calling, reaching him and pullinghim away from his sin. That's just what I think.

First of all it's a christian band that sings about God. For example. Songd like forever in your hands, not alone, and a song for the hopless. It doesn't take a genious to figure out who's calling he needs and it's jesus's sacrifice. The burning in his heart is the temptation of sin. Like he sais "i steel my nerves for temptations at hand.
I hear this calling still you don't seem so far at all! Means I hear him calling and he isn't far at all. Exactly as it sais lol.
I'll note the past and spare the pain (he knows what he has done and he asks to spare the pain).
Now with the onset, my flesh is weakening. (it means with the spirit inside and the power of god he will over come the cravings for the flesh)
and never forget these choices were made by me. (he knows it's his fault and he hears jesus and knows he's not far at all).
My strength has been tested (by god).
Still I belive this calling (of god) will see me through (he's be granted eternal lie! The song is made from verses such as john 3: 16 lol.
Not trying to be a jerk but not every heavy metal band is about crap
a lot of these guys feel it with their hearts and play the sufferings christ went through by showing evberyone through song lol.
