Allison Iraheta – Scars lyrics
Did I say something stupid?
There goes one more mistake
Do I bore you with my problems?
Is that why you turn away?
Do you know how hard I tried
To become what you want me to be?

Take me
This is all that I've got
This is all that I'm not
All that I'll ever be
I've got flaws, I've got faults
Keep searching for your perfect heart
It doesn't matter who you are
We all have our scars
We all have our scars

You say don't act like a child
But what if it's a father I need?
It's not like you don't know what you got yourself into
Don't tell me I'm the one who's naive
Do you know how hard I've tried
To become what you want me to be?

Take me
This is all that I've got
This is all that I'm not
All that I'll ever be
I've got flaws, I've got faults
Keep searching for your perfect heart
It doesn't matter who you are
We all have our scars
We all have our scars

Come on, just let it go
These are things you can't control
Your expectations, your explanations
Don't make sense to me
You and your alternatives
Don't send me to your therapists
Deep down, I know what you mean
And I'm not sure that's what I wanna be
No

Take me
This is all that I've got
This is all that I'm not
All that I'll ever be
I've got flaws, I've got faults
Keep searching for your perfect heart
It doesn't matter who you are
We all have our scars
We all have our scars
Oh no no no

Did I say something stupid
There goes one more mistake...

I've gone through so much and with everything I am told that I'm not good enough or that I will never be anything. People use my past against me and tell me that it's not worth getting to know me because I've gone through to much. Just because I've been through a lot doesn't mean that someone shouldn't talk to me, it just shows that there is more to me than what I let you see from the outside. What I've been through just gives me more experience. Yes it may influence my decisions but it makes me who I am. This song is the story of my life.

I am 16 years old as of 2020, and almost six months ago my Mom passed away. Then my Great-Grandpa. I have never related more to a song than I do this one. Whenever someone finds out about my Mom's passing or my Great-Grandpa's they look at me like I am less of a person now. They pity me without knowing me. Losing my Mom is the hardest thing I will ever face in life, especially because she was my best friend. The lyrics really make up the feelings I have about people who want to help my grief, but they use their own methods. "You and your alternatives/ Don't send me to your therapists/ Deep down, I know what you mean..." I love that I have people who want to help me get through the grief process. They want to tell me how to grieve, how to feel, how to live through losing my Mom, but no matter how many times I try to explain what I am feeling, they look at me like I am crazy. This is my go-to song for whenever I feel like punching someone in the face.

I feel like this song is about a father who does not care enough to help his kids even though they have tried everything in their power to do what he wanted but it just does not work out you just don't feel the way he wants you to feel.

I asoloutly love ths song, bc its like exactly how I feel. Just being a totally imperfectgirl trying to keep everything together, rarely ever saying or foing the right things, or knowing when to be quiet. Having problems that you don't think people understand, but just hoping that somone will totally accept you the way you are, with all your scars and imperfections. And wanting people to know that you wont judge anyone for their scars and imperfections.
