Anberlin – The Resistance lyrics
You want to watch us break
Be the first to take us down
But your teeth are worn
And there's no stopping us now

You got to be mental
Your speeches sound malingered
Take down this molotov of words
Penned with you in mind

(Speak) Speak for yourself
You paper tigers
You'll crash where you stand
You've got a riot on your hands

(Speak) Speak for yourself
You paper tigers
Too late to meet demands
When you've got a riot on your hands

Silent alarms are ringing
Sounds of revolt draw near
A new united front
That you will come to fear

We will hold together
To become the change
Voice for the voiceless
With every common man engaged

(Speak) Speak for yourself
You paper tigers
You'll crash where you stand
You've got a riot on your hands

(Speak) Speak for yourself
You paper tigers
Too late to meet demands
When you've got a riot

Ignite and watch us burn
Until every embers turned
Mankind will feel inspired
When we set your walls to fire

(Speak) Speak for yourself
You paper tigers
You'll crash where you stand
You've got a riot on your hands

(Speak) Speak for yourself
You paper tigers
Too late to meet demands
When you've got a riot on your hands

Speak for yourself!

Another general rally cry revolt song. I like it a lot. Just another general call to arms. Rise up to resistance, do not submit to the enemy. Every common man who has been screwed over by the system is invited to revolt and cause revolution. The revolution is the voice for the voiceless. "those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable. " - jfk. "people should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people. "

My interpretation is a song about a group of common people standing up for themselves against a higher power, and it being too late to negotiate because the change has already begun. It seems to mention nonviolence when it says take down this molotov of words. This reminds me of the indian indipendence from britain and how gandhi used his civil disobedience and power of words to defy the weakening british empire and help push india to home rule.
