Asking Alexandria – A Lesson Never Learned lyrics
Please you have to help me
This is not my true face
If you could see my soul
As I have seen my soul
I could show it to you
It's rotten
It's poison
Help me please

Please, give me a fucking excuse
I beg for just one reason to give you regret, regret

Are you with me or are you on your own
It's time to choose your side
So choose your side

Are you with me or are you on your own
It's time to choose your side
So choose your fucking side

Could be the end of the world
I'd still be laid here on my own wasting my life away (x2)

Hear me now
Get off your knees
Nothing changes when you pray
I'm the closest thing to a god you'll ever know
Get off your knees

Open your eyes
I'll regret, never again
And I stand above you
I'll regret, never again
And I stand above you

And I can't feel this pain anymore
And I can't carry on this way
I'm hiding behind false eyes

Could be the end of the world
I'd still be laid here on my own wasting my life away (x2)

Over and over
Over and over
Fuckin hell
Fuck

No matter how much he pushes to have the one who knows his true soul to be by his side, even if he knows how much she will need him, he knows she will go the other way! He knows it's useless! She does it over and over again! But he tries to blind himself of that point! And because of that, he knows he will die alone! It is hope that blinds us from reality! We will lie to ourselves trying to get what we cannot or should not have! And that in turn makes our soul rotten and poisoned! Powerful song of inner conflict! One of their best in my opinion!

I'm gonna sound like a hater. But I'm not. I love this band. But "please you have to help me.
This is not my true face.
If you could see my soul.
As I have seen my soul.
I could show it to you.
    It's rotten.
    It's poison.
Help me please" is about showing his true soul to the devil... And "choose your side" is choosing between god, or the devil. I'm not hating. Once again I love this band. But I'm letting you guys know the meaning behind what your listening to.

It means that the entire band have problems, that they never learnt to control. When he says 'it could be the end of the world' he's saying that the world is changing and ending, and he would be to intoxicated to notice it. This talks about his drug and alcohol abuse, and not being able to feel anything, just being numb. Ben sings 'i just can't carry on this way' and it shows that they all know that if they carry on like that, they know they'll die from it one day. It's pretty much exactly as the title says.
    This is their lesson,.
    The one they never learned.

Heres the quote from the movie. "i want to be free; i want to be new... Clean; i want to be good. Please. Please, you have to help me," he begs a priest. "this is not my true face. If you could see my soul... " the priest interrupts him, saying that only god can see a man's soul. "i have seen my soul," dorian insists. "it's rotten. It stinks. It's poison. "
