Avenged Sevenfold – Almost Easy lyrics
I feel insane every single time
I'm asked to compromise
Cause I'm afraid and stuck in my ways
And that's the way it stays
So how long did I expect love to outweigh ignorance
By that look on your face I may have forced the scale to tip

I'm not insane, I'm not insane
I'm not insane, I'm not - not insane

(Mother)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(Said it all)
Come back again, it's almost easy

Shame pulses through my heart
From the things I've done to you
It's hard to face, but the fact remains
That this is nothing new

I left you bound and tied with suicidal memories
Selfish beneath the skin
But deep inside I'm not insane.

I'm not insane, I'm not insane.
I'm not insane, I'm not - not insane.

(Mother)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(Said it all)
Come back again, it's almost easy
(You learned your lesson)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(But first you'll fall)
Come back again, it's almost easy

Now that I've lost you it kills me to say
(Hurts to say)
I tried to hold on as you slowly slipped away. (Slowly slipped away)
I'm losing the fight.
I treated you so wrong, now let me make it right.
(Make it all right)

I'm not insane, I'm not insane. Ha Ha Ha Ha
I'm not insane, I'm not - not insane.

(Mother)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(Said it all)
Come back again, it's almost easy
(You learned your lesson)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(But still you fall)
Come back again, it's almost easy

    Elceeserious-.
If you knew anything about this band, or the Rev, you would know that he was Catholic. He wasn't depressed - again, if you knew anything about him, you'd know he was a happy person most of the time.
If you can interperate the lyrics at all, the song is about losing someone close to you, and begging for them to come back. It's about treating someone close to you badly and wanting them to come back, feeling horrible and 'insane' at what you did.
Get your facts straight before you go posting things like that. If you've heard any song by this band, you'd know they were not 'devil worshippers'.

    This post goes towards Elceeserious.
Are you soo stupid to say that the rev was a devil worshiper if you look up his info youll see that he wasnt a devil worshiper why are you speaking bullshit of some one has past away (R.I.P the rev) and you said that you hope he's burning in hell well guess what your going to be burning in hell for speaking ill of the dead who ever you are (guy or girl) get your facts straight seriously the rev was (and to me and mostlly all of the revs fans) still is the best drummer next time you speak make sure you get your information straight wen you said that he is a devil worshiper and his band too your pretty much calling all of his fans devil worshipers too and I'm one of them and guess what if you had a good rep (wich I doubt a lot) its all going down hill from here so next time think before you speak.

    I agree with Shadyspartan.
But this song can also be interpreted to show the flaws of "love". This man is stubborn and abusive, and he knows he should not do the things he does that cause her to leave. Yet, he says a few simple words (come back to me, its almost easy) and she come crawling back, because she loves him.
The definition of insanity is something along the lines of trying something multiple times expecting a different result. "I'm not insane" is saying he's not trying to change.
When she finally leaves, he still doesn't change, even though he knows why she left and what he needs to do to fix it. That just shows how unhealthy it can be if the two people in a relationship don't love each other equally or aren't dedicated as much as the other partner.

To me this is a reflection of how society deals with religion (christianity mainly) religion is passed down by mothers and fathers and it results in a lot of people having difficulty dealing with the insanity of some religions or absence of fact when following traditions like this. It almost seems to me like christ was suicidal in the choices he made and it is ironic in this song that the singer would reflect that on the mother as a bitter reminder of the truth. Its almost easy to give yourself blindly to a cause which commits you to leapa of faith to do what is popular within but not always moral or ethical.

The narrator (m. Shadows' vocals) is angry at himself for not changing when he is bad to his wife/girlfriend/etc.
The backup vocals (syn, zacky, johnny, and the rev's harmonies "mother said it all. You learned your lesson, but first* you fall.) imply that he knows what he is doing wrong, as he's already made the mistake.
The narrator still believes he is fine, and wants the person he hurt back.
*The word is "but first you fall", not "but still you fall. The lyrics here need corrected.

In my veiw its about someone and a lady(mother) and they were fighting a lot and they moved apart and now they want her back "come back to me it's almost easy"
Or it could be about like dying and "come back to me it's almost easy" could be like there soul coming back to the earth. You never know; only the people there to write the song will know what it is about.

I think the character has been playing around on his girl. People call him crazy for doin it but he feels that's what he is: a player. But eventually he realizes that what he wants is this girl, and as she was getting rid of him, he kept trying to keep her. Now he wants her to come back. This song shows you just how awsome Shadow's vocals are. If you don't understand, try blairing themout like him in that range. Yeah.

    My interpretation:
He gets angry at his girlfriend whenever she asks for a compromise in the relationship. He thinks "Why should I change how I am for her?" He's too "scared and stuck in his ways" to even think about whether she is happy or not.
Whenever she leaves him, its "almost easy" for him to get her back. He makes false promises, begs and pleads, and then when she's back, nothing changes. He treats her the same as before again.
Then one day, it doesn't work and she won't come back. He's ashamed of how he's manipulated her, bullied her, just to make himself happy. He knows how he made her feel and regrets everything he did. He realises he's very selfish but now he knows he can change. He wants to change to keep her, because he realises that he loves her.
But he can't get her back. He's pushed it too far, and she doesn't want to give him another chance to "make it right".
He's lost her for good, and is remembering what his mother told him about how to treat women, wishing he had listened.
    He's exactly like my ex.

The way I see it is a plea from the rev to his mother to come back. I heard somewhere that the rev wrote this song, and I did a little research and found out that the revs behaviour as a child and a teenager were rather. "abnormal". I feel that hes admitting his guilt and begging her to come back. That's just me haha.
And if the information I heard is false, then I'm sorry for sounding like a complete idiot: P

I didn't see it as a boyfriend girlfriend relationship, but as a mother child relationship. Thinking of it like that it really hits home with me because me and my mother have a lot of problems, I feel exactly like the lyrics, sometimes it is easy to just go around forcing your way of doing things. But easier or not it's the wrong thing to do no matter how you look at it.

I think the song means when you're arguing with someone
You think it's almost easier just to walk away and igonore the wrongs still there rather than working it out
And because you refuse change your ways you feel like that person will just keep giving and giving without saying anything.
In the end he wants her back and because he has wronged her so many times he's began to lost her love more and more. Because he thought that she could just go on blissfully loving him forever, when she couldn't do it anymore he had to really admitt and realize what he'd done.

I had wrote the line "so what if i expected love to outweigh ignorance" on one of my old dressers I came across, I must have written on years back-- I couldn't remember where that quote came from. I just re-heard this song on the radio after I had literally Just spoken with my ex, asking him if hes still crazy, as hes tellinh me "Im not insane"! I remembered that's why I must have written that (the dresser was in our old apartment).

The meaning of this song is stated on the video, making of almost easy. James Owen Sullivan (the reverend tholemew plauge) wrote the song on his own. At first Brian Elwin Haner Jr. (Sinester gates) didn't like the song due to the simple guitar but grew to liking it due to the drum beat that is a mixture of metal and latin. The meaning of this song is that people mess up sometimes and sometimes its easy to forgive them but sometimes its hard.

Seriously? Devil worshiper? Really? Have you heard any other song by them Elceeserious? If you did like take Chapter 4 for example they talk about the bible! Cain and Able. Never have they said, "Satan you rule!" or something stupid like that, I hope you feel remorse for what you have said, it was unkind, unjust, and plain mean. Firstly your not sopposed to speak ill of the dead, and secondly who are you to say it was a good thing that he died? Or that he was a "satan worshiper" do you know him personally, I know I don't and if you did then you wouldn't be as ignorant as you are acting right now.

Okay so. I think its about his relationship with his mom and he doesn't like the things she says to him, or asks him to do & he treats her like crap. Then she dies and he realizes how fucked up the things he did were & wants her to come back. He's saying he's not insane for wanting her to come back & that he can almost feel her coming back to him because, to him, it's literally almost easy in his mind.

I disagree; I think it's more along the lines of they broke up and they were relying on love completely, ignoring the problems that came up, so eventually they fell apart "so how long did i expect love to outweigh ignorance, by that look on your face i may have forced the scale to tip" so now he's asking her to come back to him, and it's almost easy because they loved each other so much, but it's still hard because they were torn apart by it as well
by the way, I think I heard somewhere that this song was about shadows and his girlfriend breaking up, but again it was probably just a rumor, so I'm not saying my interpretation was correct, I'm simply saying that's what I got out of it.

The meaning that I feel the lyrics are trying to convey is that it's ok to be depressed, it's ok to kill, maim and slaughter, because your ok and I'm ok. I'm glad the rev is dead, one less devil worshiper on this earth, if he thought he was depressed in this life, I'd like to ask him if he has any regrets now that he's burining in hell along with the many people him and his band of demons have deceieved.
