The Beatles – Hey Jude lyrics
Hey jude, don't make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her into your heart,
Then you can start to make it better.

Hey jude, don't be afraid.
You were made to go out and get her.
The minute you let her under your skin,
Then you begin to make it better.

And anytime you feel the pain, hey jude, refrain,
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders.
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder.

Hey jude, don't let me down.
You have found her, now go and get her.
Remember to let her into your heart,
Then you can start to make it better.

So let it out and let it in, hey jude, begin,
Youre waiting for someone to perform with.
And don't you know that it's just you, hey jude, you'll do,
The movement you need is on your shoulder.

Hey jude, don't make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her under your skin,
Then you'll begin to make it
Better better better better better better, oh.

Na na na na na ,na na na, hey jude...

Paul wrote this song for Julian Lennon, John's son, after Julian's parents decided they were going to get a divorce. It was a comfort song to make Julian feel better. Lennon was already with Yoko Ono during the time of the divorce with his first wife, so Julian was most likely having an even harder time that his dad moved on so quickly.

I know how you feel. Its a big regeret to let the woman you love go then realized that your life is her. Keep strong. Symon! Don't lose hope.
In God's time he will give your wishes and be happy with someone that He send to you. Be careful on oyur decision and make god a center of your life. I always love you. If theres someone who understand and love you the most its me.

I think Oliviaaa has it right. It was a song of comfort to poor Julian who certainly got the short end of the stick with his father's attention. I think Paul used a lot of words that didn't necessarily make clear sense as in "don't let her under your skin" but they worked well with the melody. The main message was: Julian don't make it bad, take a sad song and make it better, don't carry the world upon your shoulders. An all-time classically beautiful song.

Paul McCartney wrote this song in only a couple of hours for Julian Lennon, when John and Cynthia were getting a divorce. John Lennon had thought that Jude stood for John instead of Julian for many years. He thought Paul wrote it for him and not for Julian. Julian found out the song was written for him nearly 20 years after the song was recorded.
