Billy Joel – Allentown lyrics
Machine*noises Steal*
*Noises Well*
we are living here in Allentown And
they're closing all the factories down Out
in Bethlehem they're killing time Filling
out forms standing, in line Well
our fathers fought the Second World War Spent
their weekends on the Jersey Shore Met
our mothers at the uso Asked
them to dance danced, with them slow And
we're living here in Allentown But

the restlessness was handed down And
it's getting very hard to stay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay Ayyyyyyyy-ayyyyy-ay.
Oh-oh-oh
Machine
*noises And*

we're waiting here in Allentown For
the Pennsylvania we never found For
the promises our teachers gave If
we worked hard if, we behaved So
the graduations hang on the wall But
they never really helped us at all No
they never taught us what was real Iron
and coke chromium, steel And
we're waiting here in Allentown But

they've taken all the coal from the ground And
the union people crawled away-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay Ayyyyyyyyy-ayyyyyy-ay
Every

child had a pretty good shot To
get at least as far as their old man got Something
happened on the way to that place They
threw an American flag in our face Ayyyyyyyyyy-ayyyyyyyyyy-ace
Oh-oh-oh
Machine
*noises Well*

I'm, living here in Allentown And
it's hard to keep a good man down But
I won't be getting up today-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay Ayyyyyyyyy-ayyyyyyy-ay
Instrumental

*break Ayyyyyyyyy-ayyyyyy-ay*
Oh-oh-oh
Machine
*noises And*
it's getting very hard to stay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay And
we're living here in Allentown Machine
*noises

Union deals, lobbyists and federal government became more important than the people working and producing in our country. The profits of government and unions became more important than the profits of companies that built american towns and kept them thriving. The other half is that americans became lazy and thought these industries would last forever as if these jobs were some kind of legacy and therefore never looked into the future. Today president 0bama has capitalized on this theme and has taken advantage of this plight in an attempt to breakdown the american fiber and force socialism on the people of the greatest democracy on the face of the earth.

The history of the pa mining tycoons. The unions were saviors for men dying of black lung. The energy profiteers strip mined the land, leaving homes and towns literally falling into sink-holes. Workers were abused and died in the mines, so you could have better working conditions today. Have some respect or apply for a factory job in china and die of pollution, abuse, and have your child sold into child labor.
