Birdeatsbaby – The Bullet lyrics

Birdeatsbaby & their 3rd studio album ‘The Bullet Within’. They started a Kickstarter project at the end of 2013 in order to finish this new CD. The project was successfully funded after the band raised £11,000, meaning that the album launch will take place on the 11th of July of next year . The band members have various influences: Muse, Chopin, and Patti Smith are just a few of them...And that is one of the reasons why their sound cannot be pinned down to one specific genre. They are clearly alternative; not many bands can say that they have a truly so unique sound, but you could also class their songs as orchestral rock, modern and in this moment trendy indie music, lil` smell of old burlesque, some pieces of steampunk rays or new dark cabaret.
“Sing if you’re just the same as me,” is one of the lines from the song The Bullet. The band addresses relatable topics and therefore tries to make a connection with the listener. This is exactly what Birdeatsbaby have done on their new album ‘The Bullet Within’ – making the listener feel deep emotions through their profound lyrics and haunting melodies. Everyone feels out of place sometimes and The Bullet reminds us of that feeling of emptiness and no sense of purpose. You can sing along – and relate to the band – if you also feel like “a rat in a cage” or “a bull in a china shop”....

At the same time, it is also a song about missing someone you love/d. “How deep does the bullet lie?” sings the lead singer at the end of the song. Everyone has scars from the past and in the next song Drinking In The Day the band reflects upon this as well. “I’ll be drowning all my sorrows,” sings Mishkin Fitzgerald in this ballad full of self-criticism. Someone can try to have a purpose in life, but she sings that she is currently only “drinking in the day”. The mix of vocals, violins, piano melodies, and drums result in a unique and remarkable sound.

By the way Lead vocalist and songwriter awesome Mishkin Fitzgerald, violin player Tessa Gilles, bass player and guitarist Garry Mitchell and drummer Katha Rothe know how to tell a story and share their emotions through their music. Puzzles are here all in whole! Fitzgerald’s voice is impressive; she seems to hit all the high notes with ease. Not all the lyrics are clear, but some of them rather remain a bit mysterious, which creates room for different interpretations. The band formed in 2008, and have toured the uk, Europe, America and Mexico and secured a dedicated fanbase with the name ‘flock’. Birdeatsbaby calls ‘The Bullet Within’ justly their best work yet. It is an album with well-shaped stories and melodies that deserves to be heard by a bigger audience. So enjoy yourself and shine always! :).
