Black Veil Brides – Coffin lyrics
Take your crosses
I'll live without them
Standing wet in holy rain.
When you were baptized

Ignored the problem
That's when I watched you seal your grave
.

I tried to save you
But let you drink the pain
A final song now we both know
.
So I'm not givin' up
Won't let you suffocate me
You find your hell-less home
.

I don't owe you anything
You'll only die a dream forgotten
.
I've got my pride so hear me sing
I'll never let you steal my coffin
.

Words as weapons
Pierced into you

So self-righteous, have it your way
I'm alive and now I'm burning
Say a prayer to end today

I tried to save you
But let you drink the pain
A final song now we both know.
So I'm not givin' up
Won't let you suffocate me
You find your hell-less home.

I don't owe you anything
You'll only die a dream forgotten.
I've got my pride so hear me sing
I'll never let you steal my coffin.

Never let you steal my afterlife!
Never let you steal my afterlife!

*Instrumental*

So I'm not givin' up
Won't let you suffocate me
You find your hell-less home
.

I don't owe you anything
You'll only die a dream forgotten.
I've got my pride so hear me sing
I'll never let you steal my coffin.

I don't owe you anything
You'll only die a dream forgotten.
I've got my pride so hear me sing
I'll never let you steal my coffin.

It's about not letting people take advantage over your success and "steal your life" in a sense. Kind of the usual bvb message of rising above hate and negativity. That's not to say there isn't other meanings to the song - many songs have layers of meaning for people to interpret for their own. The music video for example dwells on more about leaving your past self behind and moving on as a better person. The book burning at the end symbolises the book that the kid had in their first music video "knives and pens", however also touches on preventing people from "stealing your coffin" I. E taking advantage of the person you are becoming/have become :)

This song is about leaving who you used to be and not letting your "old you" take over, because youre a new person. As in the music video when andy was saying goodbye to the "old" him, he had new warpaint, and a new confidence. Also the notebook from knives and pens was burned at the end. It shows that hes forgetting the past, and he wont let anything get in his way or change him back to what he doesn't want to be anymore.

What I think the song means is that you should move on over your old self and make most of a new self. Andy tries to make that point by putting the notebook from his childhood with his old self because in that notebook is so many bad memories that he doesn't want to think of or relive thoes memories with him today. I know that's what the song means to me anyways, I'm changing my life to make it better and I'm forgetting my old self. Its also saying let nobody control your life.

Clearly none of you are bvb army members cause all the meanings I just read a horrible, no offence guys. Andy said that the song is about how in life people will try steal you, take away your posestions, your pride, your fame and they will try change you. The whole meaning of this song is that if you pull through all of that the only thing no on can take from you is the wooden box your buried in. Your coffin. The never let you steal my after life, part should of given it away :) this song has so much meaning and passion and still sticks to the bvb modo of never give in!

I feel like this song could be directed at a few things. It could be about the person he used to be: andy six. He doesn't want to rely on him anymore like he did in his past. It could also be directed at his ex band members from before they got big. Or, it could also be directed at his bullies from his past and is using this song to say: s***w you, look how far I got now! But that is all just my opinion.

What coffin means to me is that I ill be me and you can never take that away from me that I wont let your words break me down that even though I'm kicked down I wont let you keep me down there and I will still get back up that you may be living in "hell" but that's I'm not going to let you take me down with you and I owe myself that pleasure it my life if my choices lead me somewhere I have to struggle with to get out that you should let me do things my way if it means I'm fallowing my dreams you have your life I have mine lets keep it that way if you loose your way fine but I'm going to keep fighting to get where I need/ want to be.

    Meaning:.
In the knives and pens video you see the kid alone and by himself.
In the perfect weapon video the same kid is there but he's found more people like him.
In the coffin video you see andy tosses the kids notebook by the coffin, so I think the andy in the coffin represented all the bad things that had happened to him and the one alive is him as his new self.

My meaning to this song that really moved me imo is that you wanted to save your releationship or a friend or someone that was close to you wether you didn't want to break up with them because you loved them alot or you didn't want to give up on them but you felt betrayed or destroyed by them but you kept on trying until you got tired of it and you ended it and moved on. Like a girlfriend who treated you like dirt, you have your pride and now you sing, in other words you have your pride and you wont let her damage it or anything. That's how it feels to me.

For me, the meaning of 'coffin' is that you can't let people controll who you are and that you are the controller of your own life. You also have to let people live their own life, and make choices for them selfs. I mean sure you could tell them (if this were to happen) not to do drugs or anyother crap like that, but you still can't tell them how to live no matter how hard you try!

    I honestly think this song is about not caring what people think of you. When I hear these lyrics they make me remember that no matter what people say to me or about me, I can't let it ruin my life. There's way too many good things in life to let one little thing kill it for you! Bvb is amazing, and whoever said that this song is teaching people not to believe in god needs to know that another thing bvb teaches us, is not to be stereotypical, and not to judge people. (;

I think that this songs means that if you don't believe in a "god" or aren't religious, or anything of that matter, you shouldn't let the people who judge you because of it. You should stay strong in what you believe in, whether that be atheism, or whatever. Have pride in who you are, you don't owe the people who judge you anything, don't let them steal who you are, or change you in any way.

This song most likely means when you have the desire to save something or someone from danger of some sort, once you have started you shouldn't stop or at least you wouldn't stop. As much as whatever you are preventing is trying to stop you, you yourself know that you will not stop until whatever you are doing is accomplished.
Another way I perceive this song would be that one is preventing its loved one from death and would rather "take the bullet to the heart" then let its loved one die.

I think andy si saying that some chose to be in a religion and some don't. But either way he's okay with what you want but he will always stand for what he believes and doesn't believe. But he would never judge for what others agree on because that's part of what he stands for not judging who people are. And he is also saying that I wouldn't take your faith away so you shouldn't take mine.

In my opinion, this song is about andy's conflict with religion, how he refuses to be a part of false hope.
"take your crosses i don't need them"
"i'll never let you steal my coffin"
"never let you steal my afterlife"
All implying that when he dies he does not want to be taken away by "god", he doesn't want to go where most people believe they will go in the afterlife, he revolts against it - that he is the master of his own soul and no one else can tell him what he should be. That god can't control him.
"i don't owe you anything. " implies that he will not worship god the way most people do, they all kneel down to god like they owe their life to them.
Most of his lyrics are about blasphemous things and I for one enjoy them; the beauty of it all is that, his lyrical style can mean so many things, different for each individual.

That this person that deals with their own problems and then wants anotherswhen diginty, the song is mainly telling me that when it says "i wont let you steal my coffin
" the true meaning is that "i wont let you steal me" or "i wont let you steal my diginity" or what ever pride that has made this person over come passed the judgment of being his/her true self and not letting anyone take over who they are and what they stand for in their lives as a true human being of living the statement that they are in and become as they do: to be true to yourself and never let anyone over take "you" for what you symbolize yourself for.
