I see alot of projecting here and that's ok.. The Holy Spirit convicts alot of people in different ways. You have to get 2 things straight first Religion and theology. Theology is studying God and religion is what people get it of it. Yes there is alot of Hypocrites in churches. That's where they need to be. God loves all people and Christians hide behind rules and regulations that they made up . We have the Bible for a reason to learn to love. The whole book is able loving others. Yet all Religion teaches is how to make your group better than everyone else. Alot of Modern churches don't even teach the gospel they just vomit feel good.. Luke warm.. inspirational posters that never hurt anyone's feelings so they leave a dollar in the plate. They leave numb.. misinformed and spirituality starving. Religion isn't a vacation cruise where you pay money to make sure self feel better about treating others like trash all week. It's a battleship and you need to fight for your soul and others around you. You get off the boat and get your tail kicked in your first battle because you were given soft Gospel.. Religion needs to die a weak divided church and schism Christians. Get back to saving people.. for Love. Your not gonna be liked they killed our Lord they will hate you. All in the name of love

In response to twighlighttime, I really do think you are misidentifying the meaning and targets of these lyrics. For example, if christians are going to congregate for worship & bible study the most practical way is to have a building for those activities, so if you are visiting the church only you're under no obligation to donate but if you really want to be a part of it then why would you not carry your share of the responsibilities? Imagine if you go to a gym then you are forced to pay a membership fee but if you go to church they don't even make you pay. It's based on the honor system! Proverbs 18: 5 says, "to respect the person of the wicked and be partial to him, so as to deprive the [consistently] righteous of justice, is not good. " in other words, if two guys are standing there and one is an unrepentant thief & murderer and the other guy got a ticket for jaywalking, don't berate the jaywalker because he isn't perfect while idolizing the criminal. In the case of these lyrics, however, there is a difference between evaluating a person's informed behavior and criticizing incorrect beliefs and habits. The church today suffers an unfortunately great deal with groupthink which is basing continual refinements of interpretations of scripture not on corroborating that scripture with the evidence of god's creation, but rather on interpretations given to them by ancestors who were usually basing their interpretations on limited physical information about creation. It has become a pattern for many denominations of worshipping each other by concerning themselves with what other christians think rather than worshipping god by submitting with a sense of soberiety/humility to the reconciliation of biblical interpretation with creation.

I think this song is god's response to the hypocrites of some Christians. He's saying that we should not judge others who may do wrong or even those who might practice Christianity a little different than traditional ways. We should love each other, not berate each other. He's also saying that we as Christians shouldn't focus on the "religion" and the church itself. Instead, we should focus on the relationship we have with God. We shouldn't focus on just going to church, anyone can do that. We should actually do something good, something truly helpful for the world.

This song is talking about being fed up with all the hypocrasies in the churches. That's why people go with out tking it to heart. The priest says to drink in moderation, but what does he do a funeral? Get drunk as a part of the cermony. They say give from your heart, yet they pass a collection plate and make you pay the church? And whose getting the money? The preist. It doesn't go to making the church look better, it goes to making the preist richer. I know some one who asked out right 'why are you lying to your sheep? ' That's what he asked this preist. The answer? 'Because I get paid to tell them what they want to hear. ' Think on that for a while.

I thinnk it like god is speaking. When it was just him, adam, and eve he was the only god. It was just him and about him. Then hunndrens and hundrens of years later people started workshipping other gods. And now god is saying. Stop workshipping these other people. Look at me. I made you. I forgave you! Forget these other religions. And god is mad at us for all the religions we made.
