He can't give her the time or attention she wants and needs. Possibly a narcissistic/co-dependent relationship. Asking, maybe even begging that they both grow enough to admit that things have fallen apart, and it has gone beyond saving. "Let's make the call and take it all" maybe saying let's make the decision to end this or keep going on. Saying that he's done this too many times before, and sees where its going. "I hit floor don't ask for more". I've admitted my flaws, and what I've done to sabotage this relationship, what mire do you want from me.

I don't know what the song really is intended to mean, but I don't take it to be a pessimistic view of whatever relationship it is talking about. I like to think that it is about someone who thinks that the other person doesn't care about them, and that he is stressing out about it. What "wasting my time" refers to is the time he is wasting by worrying that the other person doesn't like them. The other person does actually care, and the guy just needs to realize this and trust in this other person. That's probably not what the song is actually about, but it's what I think of whenever I hear it. Plus, all of the other comments on here are really depressing, so I think there should be a somewhat optimistic interpretation to balance things out.

Logically, to pursue the relationship makes no sense based on implied social relations and contracts. Unfortunately, people are not always satisfied with what they settle with in life. Greed, desire. These things are like chains keeping us tied to our fears. The lyrics imply he is afraid to just fully trust and put himself out there. That's why this song is cool, because in this alternate pretend make believe wonderland constructed through art, he can express this alter ego persona of his. Xd.

"this is not for real, afraid to feel". Means he's been through too many messed up relationships, his fear keeps him from being able to feel it anymore. "i see you waiting, look so lonely". She won't leave, even though she knows just as well as he does that it's over. She'll sit around and wait until he forces her to leave. And he see's her doing this, and see's how lonely she is. I'm going through this now, I'm waiting, so lonely, and he knows it.

Haven't you felt like you're wasting your time in a relationship? That maybe you aren't deserving of that relationship? And, you don't know how to state your feelings about a person and how wonderful they are? Do you ever feel like you're going to get hurt really bad if you love somebody? Yeah

Tootall has it mostly right, except he admits that he loves her but needed distance (they possibly both did), but stayed away so long "months went by with us pretending" that there seemed like no point in going back "when did our light turn from green to red". Though when he says they should "make the call and take it all again", he admits that they're one convicted attempt at speaking to each other from saving everything they had lost.
