Disney – Colours Of The Wind lyrics
You think you own whatever land you land on
The earth is just a dead thing you can claim

But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit has a name

You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you

But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew, you never knew

Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon?
Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned?
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountain?
Can you paint with all the colours of the wind?
Can you paint with all the colours of the wind
?

Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sunsweet berries of the Earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they're worth
,

The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never ends,

How high does a sycamore grow?
If you cut it down, then you'll never know.
And you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon.
For whether we are white, or copper-skinned,
We need to sing with all the voices of the mountain
Need to paint with all the colours of the wind

You can own the earth and still,
All you own is earth until
You can paint with all the colours of the wind
.

The song for me is very meaningful. It's like the singer is telling us that we don't own Nature and that we don't have the right to claim what's not ours. I like the line "how high will the Sycamore grow if you cut it down? Then you'll never know". It's pretty obvious and quite funny too. I like to sing the song over and over becuse for me, the melody itself is very beautiful. I also love the other songs from Pocahontas.

I love how true this song is. I love the part where it says " you think the only people who are people are the people who look and think like you", because it can refer to racism, discrimination and cruelty to animals and the land. We should all learn from pocohontas; keep in touch with the earth, know what goes on around and us and to not be so ignorant and arrogant like most of us. We are supposed to adapt to the earth, not adapt the earth to us.

I love the part where it says "things you never knew you never knew" and how it shows that these people have never even considered something different from them. I also love where Pocahontas sings and shoves a gun into his hands. These both show how these people have never doubted their ideas, and have never thought someone other than them could be right, or could be equal.

Colors of the wind is simply the best disney song ever. Pocahontas is disney's best movie. It's a pity that many people don't know that movie. It gives me goosebumps since I was a kid because it's so true! Colors of the wind is better than all that today's garbage (britney spears, kesha, lady gaga.). Really! Look up in my ipod I just listen to disney songs, and especially to pocahontas'. The scores are great too! May god bless alan menken, stephen schwartz, disney and john smith (yeah I know I was in love with him when I was a kid! ; p). And may god bless you all!

Sometimes it's not the song itself that says it in the best way, it's the music. Go outside in the woods, or by the water, or wherever is as far from mankind as you can, and listen to the music of this song, no words, it says it all. It's practically magic.

I love this line, but I wondered if other bodies of water were related to us too. Like the mud puddle, is that like a second cousin? How about that stagnate septic pool in your backyard, is that like a black sheep relative? How about a tragic flood, is that like a family reunion? In this vain, it you live in a desert, then you're an orphan. One more, what about snow? is that a "flaky" relative? Keeping it light, I mean no disrespect.
