I know most see this as a one night stand scenario, but the whistgul way he sings makes me feel deep down he really hopes to reconnect with her long term. She's the girl who got away and he never forgot. He's suggesting taking it slow not to frighten her off. I see much more than the classic ONS.

No this is a song about true love. They were once friends and something happened and they lost touch and he decided to call her to hang out with no strings attached! Kinda like lets see what happens as the night progresses. But the words in this song are definately great lines to use on someone you really want to be with that you miss and possibly spend the rst of you life with.

Oh, don't you guys get it? They were lovers back when, and for some reason, they didn't end up with each other, though they loved each other deeply. He never forgot her, even though they both probably married other people. He will never get her out of his mind and would just like to see her again (maybe just one more time).

Two people who used to have a relationship and the one person really misses the other. He just wants to spend some time with her, even though he knows, for some reason that they will never have a relationship. He calls her and makes small talk, and presents some different activites they could do together just so they can be together one last time. He wants to say goodbye and move on.

He realizes that his intergalactic space travel hot rod won't fit in her garage, so he parks in the surf, but realizes that she is just a human and would probably rather not take a ride along the beach and would prefer to rot her brain by watching the telly, which, little does she know, has been providing a pathway for neural atomizers to destroy both logic and the ability to speak, which is why he does all of the talking. Simple, really.

Unrequited love, he's still got the hearts, not hots, for her. He cares more than she does or did. Not asking for more emotionally than she can give. Wants HER any way he can have her. Doesn't want to be a turn-off. He misses her, nostalgia's hitting him as well as the torch he's carrying for her. Only my opinion, humble or not so humble. You decide!

The classic "sex with your ex" song. They once had a relationship, things didn't work out, now he was flipping through his Black Book and came across her. He was thinking he could get one "for the road" and throws a few bullshit lines at her. He knows that there's no chance that they could trust/'stand each other long enough to sustain a relationship, so he just wants to "hit it and quit it," under the guise of the different "get-together" scenarios he presents. He even qualifies this by stating, "I won't ask for promises/so you don't have to lie/we've both played that game before/ say "I love you" and then say 'goodbye.'" Get real.
