Escape The Fate – My Apocalypse lyrics
There's a place that I've found
As far as I can see
This place lies within
The depths of my dreams
In a garden surrounded
By fire and trees
Through the smoke a silhouette I can barely see
There's a man with an axe
Standing in the rain

Looked me straight in the eye
This is what he had to say

Never fall asleep
You won't wake up
Destroy the guillotine
Before he does

I walk with shadows
(You have to find a better way)
I walk with shadows
(The questions I will never say)
Hiding from the gallows
(They keep me safe and sound)
So I walk with shadows
(The ways of burning down this house)

End transmission
The satellites are down
I need an earthquake
To shake this pity
Off the ground

Just don't trust these liars at the door
(You have to find a better way)
Kill the ones that have these answers for
(The questions I will never say)

Never fall asleep
You won't wake up
Destroy the guillotine
Before he does

I walk with shadows
(You have to find a better way)
I walk with shadows
(The questions I will never say)
Hiding from the gallows
(They keep me safe and sound)
So I walk with shadows
(The ways of burning down this house)

End transmission
The satellites are down
I need an earthquake
To shake this pity
Off the ground

All the vibrant colors I see
And the shades that fill the grey

Pain
The pain
Pain
The pain
Pain
The pain
Pain
The pain
Pain

[X2]

Hiding from the gallows
(You have to find a better way)
I walk with shadows
(The questions I will never say)
Hiding from the gallows
(They keep me safe and sound)
So I walk with shadows
(The ways of burning down this house)

Wow, Trevor, I completely agree with you. I wear black, I wear eyeliner (although it's certainly different, being a girl; I still wear thick black eyeliner that people would assume to be "emo"), I have three tattoos chosen that I plan to start getting when I turn 16 (one in memory of my late grandmother, one the Cancer zodiac sign, and one being an Escape The Fate lyric), and I worship God.
I'd also like to add that Escape The Fate was so much better with Ronnie, not because his voice was better or because I like him more (Craig is an excellent singer/screamer & I have nothing against him), but because Ronnie's lyrics were much more meaningful than Craig's are. It really bothers me, because Escape The Fate - whose music has affected me greatly - will never be the same with Craig. :(
    Anywho, amazing song.
    Love, Sara.

This is going to be a long interpretation, but whatever:
The "place that he found in the depths of his dreams" is something he subconsciously wants.
The "garden" is his life (gardens filled with plants->life), but his is surrounded by "fire in trees" (his life is messed up, to put it simply).
The "man with the axe" is Death, and Ronnie feels he is trying to say something to him:
"Never fall asleep, you won't wake up. Destroy the guillotine, before he does". I think that means basically kill yourself before someone else does (probably kills him mentally, but anyways)
"I walk with shadows" The shadows are his life (shadows->dark->bad)
    The "better way" is death.
The "questions I will never say" are things like 'Will anyone care if I'm gone? '
[My personal favorite of the entire song] "Hiding from the gallows (They keep me safe and sound)" I think that this is saying Ronnie is hiding from death (for those of you who don't know what a gallow is, its like the guillotine) but the "they keep me safe and sound" part means like he feels as if he is better of dead.
"So I walk with shadows". The 'So' was put there to say 'So I continue life (walk with shadows)
Then "the ways of burning down this house" is important in my opinion. House->Life/many people. So I think this means he thinks that by living, he is destroying everyone else's lives.
The "end transmission" verse is basically saying not to talk to anyone about it.
"Just don't trust these liars at the door (you have to find a better way). Kill the ones that have these answers for (the questions I will never say)". This is saying no matter how much people say 'Don't kill yourself' or something, they are lying. Better off dead. It is the "better way". So the killing of the ones with those answers is saying 'i don't want to hear any of this because it's untrue'
The "vibrant colors" are the things that gave his life meaning, but "the pain" stands for how they only give pain now.
    The rest I already explained.
    Matt.
(I swear I did not steal this from a site or anything. I'm 15. This is honestly just my opinion on what the lyrics mean. I think of this as a song about suicide which is why it has the name "My Apocalypse").

Best song on the album in my opinion and I think the meaning has something to do with how people judge people because they are different and how changing who you are on the outside wont change who you really are deep down. Or it could be about someone on the run from a murderer and hiding in the shadows is the only way to be safe, idk but I do know that I love to play this song!

Escape the fate really is awesome. I would love to wae thick eyeliner like all you guys seem to bring up except my mom won't let me (i know how lame that sounds) and some people if they didn't know me may think I'm some sort of a prep but I really am not. I am "emo" although I hate that term because it's used in such a negative way usually. Escape the fate is an amazing band. Alot of people misjudge it because their sound suicidal if you can't understand the hidden meanings in it. Trevor did a really good job in understanding it all. Amazing :)

This song is awesome. I loved etf ever since I heard the first 3 seconds to one of their songs (which was situations). And I've been to their concert this year in Feb. The band isn't the same with Ronnie, that's obvious. But they're still a great band. Craig is an amazing singer/screamer. He performs their old songs just as well. The only part that makes me angry at Craig is how he changed lyrics so much. Like Ronnie's lyrics are deep and Craigs just aren't. If that makes sense to you? But I'm still a big fan!

I totally agree with trevor. I don't think he left out anything to that meaning. And etf isn't emo or satanic theyre rock/ alternative it says that their myspace page. O and I wear dark eye makeup, black, if I was a girl instead of a teenage girl I would scream n songs because and well it doesn't really work out for girls (trust me), and I definately plan to be covered n tattoos n fact I've already decided on some I'm getting. Well anyway yeah I think trevors explanation was pretty much perfect for this song.

I love this song, I think its my top 2 in my list of songs! I agree with Sara, I do the black eyeliner and dark clothing but I am actually quite approchable, well back to the song. I love this song, he knows he's done something serioulsy wrong but he is hiding, he doesn't want to be caught by anyone for his crimes. Ronnie we know what this is about! But it is passionate and has alot of meaning in it, which makes me sooo happy!
