Hollywood Undead – Hear Me Now lyrics
(Danny)
Now (repeated)

(J-Dog)
As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I wear my crown of thorns and pull the knife out my chest
.
I keep searching for something that I never seem to find.
But maybe I won't, because I left it all behind.

Now I'm stuck with this, and that'll never change
Always a part of me, until the very last day.
Where to go from here? What road to travel on?
I spent my whole life choosing, and I always chose wrong.

Will I try to have the will to be alive?
Will I try because I've never seen the light?
Blow it to the ground and it's now you see,
You spent your whole life taking the best of me

(Danny)
Where'd you go? Where's your home?
How'd you end up all alone?
Can you hear me now?

There's no light, there's no sound.
Hard to breathe, when you're underground.
Can you hear me now? Hear me now

(Johnny 3 Tears)
How low can I keep pretending to be?
That all the stars in the sky could mean something to me.
Heaven will open up if I live on my knees.
A man of many words, but a man of few deeds.

Walking these streets, so absent of hope.
A pillow of concrete, a man with no home.
Lend him a hand, then we're walking the way.
Leave the virtue of pity, but we live with the shame.

So scared to dream in a world with no sunlight.
When you wake up, you know it's darker than last night.
Quickly we forget, sacrifice gone by.
Born to walk away, been walking my whole life.

(Danny)
Where'd you go? Where's your home?
How'd you end up all alone?
Can you hear me now?

There's no light, there's no sound.
Hard to breathe, when you're underground.
Can you hear me now? Hear me now

Look into my eyes
and I see
What do I see? Nothing at all
Take another look around me

What do I see? Nothing at all

Where'd you go? Where's your home?
How'd you end up all alone?
Can you hear me now?

There's no light, there's no sound.
Hard to breathe, when you're underground.
Can you hear me now? Hear me now
Can you hear me? Hear me now

I believe this song is about veterans and how after coming back from Afghanistan they are treated bad and end up homeless, hence the "Pillow of concrete, a man with no home" and how their actions are so easily forgotten "Quickly we forget, sacrifice gone bye". This is what the song means to me.

It's strongly about questioning God's existence. The person is trying to get help but isn't receiving it. Also it could be about how our world doesn't live by the right values but the first interpretation is more politically correct because the lyrics just totally describe it. I just don't recommend you to sing this in a church or around very religious friends.

From the very beginning of the song, he alludes to parts of the bible or refers to religion but puts a sort of twist on it. Like at the beginning he refers to "walking through the valley of the shadow of death" and the "crown of thorns. " in other references that I have heard usually when one refers to the valley of the shadow of death they talk about how jesus or their faith in god brings them out of it and helps them to see the light. But conversely the lyrics say he pulls a knife out of his chest, which I can only see as maybe he feels betrayed by religion and feels that life isn't all about praying or has been in a place where he was religious and something changed his mind, causing him to lose a lot of the faith he had in god and his asking "can you hear me now? " can be him holding on to that shred of faith he still has left in his heart. This is how I interpret it. If you interpret it differently that's cool too. But I see this song as being largely religious or about faith in both god and the world around us.

My love used to sing this song all the time before his untimely accidental wreckless death. For him it was loss and sadness and wasted life with every line having deep and exact relevance to where he happened to be in life at that time. He had been hurt, he had hurt himself, he had woken up and begun to emerge from dark depression. For me now it has extreme relevance on two levels: his relevance and how this and his death have left me drowning, alone, wasted time and depleted spirit and hope.
