INXS – Never Tear Us Apart lyrics
Don't ask me what you know is true
Don't have to tell you, I love your precious heart
I, I was standing, you were there
Two worlds collided and they could never tear us apart

We could live for a thousand years but if I hurt you, I'd make wine from your tears
I told you that we could fly, 'cause we all have wings but some of us don't know why
I was standing, you were there
Two worlds collided and they could never ever tear us apart

I (Don't ask me), I was standing (What you know is true), you were there (Worlds collided)
Two worlds collided (We're shining through) and they could never tear us apart
You (Don't ask me), you were standing (What you know is true), I was there (Worlds collided)
Two worlds collided (We're shining through) and they could never tear us apart
I, I was standing, you were there, two worlds collided...

Its a love song about finding true love with someone who many people wouldn't think you were right for! The lyric "I'd make wine from your tears" refers to the fact that even if I made you cry I'd make it up to and turn it into a good thing that's how in love the singer is with the girl, Micheal Hutchence's lyrics are nearly always about women and relationships. I don't think you really need to be a genius to understand what he writes about. I think he may have had borderline personality disorder. Obsessed with women and romance he really was alot deeper than most people give him credit for, and his lyrics should be viewed as poetry! His lyrics are up there with the best!

You know what? How about you keep your stupid Bronze Age myths to yourself? Where'd you hear that f'd up interpretation? At "Bible College"?
I personally don't need the guidance of ancient goat-herders and legalists (Paul was a lawyer, did you know that?) to tell me how to live my life.
This song is talking about love between people from different backgrounds in life. It's waaay closer to Romeo & Juliet than to the bible.

A very common theme I've come to realize runs through the spaces between song lines. It's insidious and unless a person is knowledgeable on the subject (probably by witnessing or surviving), he/she'd have never even known. I tend to be a deep thinker. I also write poetry. It doesn't make me expert. But it certainly helps when studying lyric meaning.

@Unregistered Aug. 15, 2015 you came closer than I gave credit to anyone on. The call on BPD... Close but no cigar. He's either a narcissistic PD or sociopath (AsPD). Borderlines don't actually derive pleasure from other ppls pain and suffering. BPDs just get irrationally angry and clearly he is trying to emphasize his sense of superiority and entitlement. Wine = Alcohol → Alcohol = getting drunk or good times... So if they lived for 1000 years and he made her cry, he'd then get drunk with enjoyment from her pain.

To see if you can follow my logic consider the intentional stutter in the chorus."I... I was standing/you were there." Now why would anyone put emphasis on a stutter? They wouldn't right! He's highlighting that he truly felt like he was up above everyone else including his own gf who's sitting or perhaps breathing. Maybe she's doing cartwheels. Or maybe since she seems to just be there...

Like Imma just be existing right here. You go on... Live your life. I can stay in the background. Like wtf! Anyhow, two worlds indeed. Codependents/love addicts tend to follow life long debilitating cyclic patterns of abusive or otherwise toxic relationships. They will fall in love with Narcissists/sociopaths/AsPD . What the C and N share is how their coping behavior was created and that's narcissistic parents. The C is a perpetual giver or caretaker and the N a perpetual taker.

Now go back to the beginning.
Girl: Do you even love me?
Him: Don't ask me what you know is true <He doesn't love her but doesn't want to tell her yet because she's still useful to him. He can skirt the issue without actually lying>
Don't have to tell you <almost patranizing, I don't have to tell you and you won't do a thing about it>
I love your precious heart <she is not her heart. Her heart is part of her. He just objectified her. But also two birds with one stone in this line. Give her a compliment, some women eat em up, and she'll be so distracted she'll go other the argument

It is so sad to read this pointless messages about god and Satan, first of all grave those books that you read, and put them to use, make a big donation to recycle paper. Second you have no idea what you are even transmitting to people there is no Armageddon nor a lake of fire there never was, hell is not real nor is Satan. If you really want to get some knowledge go to a Jewish library and get some real books, and find out where all the bull that you read really comes from and what is really true.
Live and let live. No one tells you to do this or that, don't tell people if they don't they well end up in the lake of fire, you really sound like an ignorant. I really hope g_d will open your mind. Because your brainwashed.

Michael huthence is much deeper than the public gives him credit for. The song never tear us apart refers to the book of revelation or sometimes referenced the alpha & omega. It is the marriage of the lamb between church and the 2nd coming of christ.
-i love your precious heart refers to gods warm heart.
-two world collide refers to the rapture of the church(armageddon) and a final last revolt of satan vs. Christs 2nd coming.
-we could(key word)live for 1000 yrs refers to all that believe(listen to lenny kravitz's song believe) are rewarded w/eternity into the 1000 yr millenium while all others are thrown into the lake of fire.
-i told you that we could fly refers to one of the many rewards in the new heavens & earth.
-i'd make wine from your tears refers to one of the many miracles performed by christ 2000+ yrs ago when he turned water into wine.
For those that have no idea what I am talking about, try reading "the bible for dummies"or "the bible for stupid people" but the authors should have used the word"ignorance" somewhere in the title. I would suggest throwing in the towel and just have your sights set on the "lake of fire".
