Iron Maiden – Rainmaker lyrics
When I was wandering in the desert.
And was searching for the truth
I heard a choir of angels calling out my name.
I had the feeling that my life would never be the same again
I turned my face towards the barren sun

And I know of the pain that you feel the same as me.
And I dream of the rain as it falls upon the leaves.
And the cracks in our lives like the cracks upon the ground.
They are sealed and are now washed away

You tell me we can start the rain.
You tell me that we all can change
You tell me we can find something to wash the tears away.
You tell me we can start the rain.
You tell me that we all can change
You tell me we can find something to wash the tears....

And I know of the pain that you feel the same as me.
And I dream of the rain as it falls upon the leaves.
And the cracks in the ground like the cracks are in our lives.
They are sealed and now far away

You tell me we can start the rain
You tell me that we all can change.
You tell me we can find something to wash the tears away.
You tell me we can start the rain.
You tell me that we all can change
You tell me we can find something to wash the tears....

You tell me we can start the rain
You tell me that we all can change.
You tell me we can find something to wash the tears away.
You tell me we can start the rain.
You tell me that we all can change
You tell me we can find something to wash the tears....

And I know of the pain that you feel the same as me.
And I dream of the rain as it falls upon the leaves.
And the cracks in the ground like the cracks are in our lives.
They are sealed and now far away

Wow, this is an amazing song when I look at what it means. This was always my favorite Iron Maiden song, but now I know what it means. "Wandering in the desert" means the same thing as mindlessly drifting through life. The search for truth is the same thing or something similar along those lines. Maybe trying to find something important in life. The "choir of angels" is an epiphany or life changing moment that changes the outlook on life of the person. The person finally discovers his/her heart and sees all the pain around him/her. The rain is the solution to changing the world to the wants of the person's heart. The cracks in the ground of a desert are infinite just like the problems in our lives. Rain seals the cracks by uniting the cracks and washing them away. "You tell me" refers to the person finally listening to his/her heart. His/her heart says that it is possible to bring change (rain), everyone can do anything and change their destiny (change), and find something to end the pain and suffering (wash tears away). I love this song.
Btw: matching pronouns correctly is annoying.
