Jason Aldean – Church Pew Or Barstool lyrics
Not a whole lot goin' on
A small town Friday night
Revin' up at a red light
On your mark, get set, go
Passin' mom and pop restaurant
Same four trucks parked out front
I guess you gotta make your own fun
When you're stuck in a place this slow
There's only two means of salvation
Around here that seem to work
Whiskey or the Bible
A shot glass or revival

When you don't seem to run on either side of the fence
People act like you don't make sense
These big town dreams that I've been chasin'
Will never come true if I wind up stayin'
And I don't want to fall in the same rut
That everybody here seems to be stuck in now
Why do I hang around
In this church pew or barstool kinda town

I'm like that am station
That never comes in right
'Til you pass the city limit sign
That's the only time it all gets clear
Well, it's crystal clear that I
Just need to find
A place where this is no lines
Nothin' like it is around here
Someplace where it don't feel like
This world revolves around
Whiskey or the Bible
A shot glass or revival

When you don't seem to run on either side of the fence
People act like you don't make sense
These big town dreams that I've been chasin'
Will never come true if I wind up stayin'
And I don't want to fall in the same rut
That everybody here seems to be stuck in now
Why do I hang around
In this church pew or barstool kinda town

Here it sometimes feels just like
This world revolves around
Whiskey or the Bible
A shot glass or revival

When you don't seem to run on either side of the fence
People act like you don't make sense
These big town dreams that I've been chasin'
Will never come true if I wind up stayin'
And I don't want to fall in the same rut
That everybody here seems to be stuck in now
Why do I hang around
In this church pew or barstool kinda town

Yeah, I need to get out
Of this church pew or barstool kinda town

This song to me means people will be quick to judge you either way you go, church pew or bar stool. Most likely, like my own, a small town everyone knows everyone so they all know what your doing and when. To get out of the small town would mean you wouldn't have to worry about people judging you and it would be a lot easier to make your dreams reality with out that judgement. You just need that place you can call in between and with worry free. Small town people know just how this is.

For me this song helped me get through grade 12, I lived in a small town of about 2, 700 people and it had 3 bars and 2 liquor stores just on main street. I felt that people didn't understand that I wanted to escape and the if I stayed I would be trapped there like what has happened to everyone else including most of my family. I didn't want that kind of future for my self, I wanted to do something with my life. I miss it there but I am happy that I am gone.

I am from a very small town and I can relate to this. I won't be able to make my dreams of owning my own real estate business in new york city come true if I stay in this small town that does truly revolve around churches and bars. I look at the people in this town and I see low life's and people that let their dreams go and I don't want that. I'm gonna be the one to come back to my class reunion and say I made it out there I followed my dream and for that I am happy. I don't want to be I'm this church pew or bar stool kinda tow.

I think that this song is saying that by staying in this small town where everyone let their dreams go he is gonna do that same. He isn't gonna be what he wants to be he isn't going to be able to make that dream of being big and successful in this world come true. So he says he needs to get out of this town that basically revolves around churches and bars.
