King Harvest – Dancing In The Moonlight lyrics
We get it on most every night
And when that old moon gets so big and bright
It's a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight

Everybody here is outta sight
They don't bark and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light
Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight

Dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody's feelin' warm and right
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight

We like our fun and we never fight
You can't dance and stay uptight
It's a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight

Dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody's feelin' warm and right
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight

Everybody here is outta sight
They don't bark and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light
Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight

Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody's feelin' warm and right
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight

Everybody is dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody's feelin' warm and right
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight

Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody's feelin' warm and right
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight

Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody's feelin' warm and right
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight

The song puts me to mind of the novel: “The Crucible”, about the Salem Witch Trials. The girls were accused for “dancing in the moonlight”. They were naked, to some “a fine & natural sight”, and howled, but didn’t “bark or bite”, at the moon. It was alleged to be a “supernatural” source that brought them “delight”. They were careful to keep “outta sight”, lest those in authority, who didn’t “dance and “stayed uptight” would punish them because they didn’t view the worship of nature, as “a fine & natural sight”. The name of the band: “King Harvest” evokes thoughts of the pagan “harvest” festivals, which celebrated the bounty of the earth.
