Kitty Wells – Paul's Ministry lyrics
The Lord said stand up Paul and dry up your tears
You must preach my gospel for many long years
Go to the Master the way that is straight
You'll meet in an isle and there you must wait.

I counted on Jonah, I counted on Cain
I counted on Adam but he was the same
I counted on Judas but he proved untrue
Oh, go tell the world Paul, I'm counting on you.

--- Instrumental ---

Three days have gone by Lord, and yet I don't see
But here stands my brother a talking with me
He says brother call the Lord in the sky
He sends me to heal you and open your eyes.

I'll send you to the Gentals, I'll send you to Rome
But Paul you must suffer till I call you home
You'll sleep in the desert, you'll be wrecked out at sea
But keep right on preaching my gospel for me...

I had heard my cousin sing this song back in the early 1960's. She did not have any sheet music but just words she had copied down on paper, after hearing her cousin sing the song. The words have always stuck with me and the meaning of the song touch my heart that God is counting on us to do his work on earth. This describes the ministry of Paul and his conversion on the Damascus Road. This was the first time he really heard the voice of God and the experience changed his life and many countless people have been saved by his ministry. The following are the words that I remember:

    Paul's Ministry
The Lord said stand up Paul and dry up your tears.
You must preach my gospel for many long years.
Go down to Damascus, the way called strait.
You'll meet Ananias, and there you must wait.

I counted on Adam, I counted on Cain.
I counted on Jonah, but he was the same.
I counted on Judas but he proved untrue,
So go tell the world Paul, I'm counting on you.

    --- Instrumental ---

Three days have gone by Lord, and still I can't see.
But here stands my Brother a talking with me.
He said Brother Paul, the Lord in the sky,
Has sent me to preach and to pray for your eyes.

I'll send you to the Gentiles, I'll send you to Rome.
But Paul you must suffer till I call you home.
You'll sleep in the desert, you'll be wrecked out at sea,
But keep right on preaching my gospel for me...

This whole songs tells the story of Paul's conversion and how he really began to know the voice of God. First some corrections to the words from Acts 22: 5.
Verse 1, line 2 , should be "Go down to Damascus, the way called Straight".
Line 4, " You'll meet Ananias, and there you must wait ".
Song verse 3 ,line 1 - "Three days have gone by Lord, and still I can't see".
v3 Line 3, "He said Brother Paul, the Lord in the sky" .
Line 4, " Has sent me to preach and to pray for your eyes".
Song V4. Line 1 " I'll send you to the Gentiles, I'll send you to Rome ".
    Repeat Verse 2.
