Lauren Aquilina – King lyrics
You're alone,
You're on your own,
So what, have you gone blind,
Have you forgotten what you have and what is yours?

Glass half empty, glass half full,
Well either way you won't be going thirsty
,
Count your blessings not your flaws.

You've got it all,
You lost your mind in the sound,
There's so much more, you can reclaim your crown,
You're in control,
Rid of the monsters inside your head,
Put all your faults to bed,
You can be King again.

You don't get what all this is about,
You're too wrapped up in your self-doubt,
You've got that young light, set it free.

You've got it all,
You lost your mind in the sound,
There's so much more, you can reclaim your crown,
You're in control,
Rid of the monsters inside your head,
Put all your faults to bed,
You can be King.

There's method in my madness
,
There's no logic in your sadness,
You don't gain a single thing from misery,
Take it from me.

You've got it all,
You lost your mind in the sound,
There's so much more, you can reclaim your crown,
You're in control,
Rid of the monsters inside your head,
Put all your faults to bed,
You can be King.

You've got it all,
You lost your mind in the sound,
There's so much more, you can reclaim your crown,
You're in control,
Rid of the monsters inside your head,
Put all your faults to bed,
You can be King again.

I think this song is something to really think about and reflect on. It pulls the point of view from the ground beneath us to the sky above us. We become so preoccupied with beating ourselves up and fearing for our lives, our well being, our future, and suffering from the loneliness that claims us all in some way. In our hearts we all have felt that loneliness and always focused so hard on our faults and let it lead us to the belief that we could never truly accomplish anything or change the world in any way. We lose our minds in the sounds around us, in those voices that constantly say we can't do anything right. We see ourselves as these dirt covered strays in the street, when in reality, we all have the potential to claim our world and become a king in our own ways. A King is a ruler both wise and compassionate, and every last one of us has that potential in us. It is the young light that sparks the courage in your heart to try even though you're afraid. It is that courage that allows us to rid ourselves of the monsters in our head that constantly wish to see us fail, that want us to stay in that street and never reclaim our worlds. But we are in control. In order to move forward, we need to acknowledge our faults, but tell ourselves that the more positive aspects of ourselves are far more important and stronger than anything.
There is so much more out there for you than the dirt road before you. You can find mountains and kingdoms in the sky if you would but take the first step. That first step is having the courage to believe in ourselves, to fight against every voice that ever said we couldn't. There is nothing in this world that can hold back that powerful light inside of you, so put all your faults to bed, and become the king you were meant to be in your life. However you see your world, whoever walks that road with you, I am positive even they can see that light. And even if you are alone, never forget what you have, what is yours. Count your blessings, not your faults. Because you can be miserable and bemoan your ill fate, but there will be nothing to gain from it. Should anyone call you 'crazy' or 'mad' for even trying, they are the real fools. There is a method to your madness that reflects the difficulties you overcame and the courageous ambition you foster in your heart. Lay claim to the future you know can be yours.

okay, this may seem nerdy but hear me out,
as an individual exploring literature and of course Shakespeare, reading hamlet and studying hamlet is my perspective here. This whole song years ago was just " aw it's really sad it's about a person who's struggling with mental illness and this song is about healing,".Now its completely different, from Hamlet, the princely intellect dragged through his fathers murder and the

to me, this song is like saying that no matter how lost you are or how bad things seem, if you can find the strength and courage, you can gain what of yours was lost and learn from the past mistakes. in my opinion, it is also like saying that
you shouldn't allow you past to dictate what your future will hold. some people will have different opinions and see things differently, therefore nobody should judge anybody, for everybody is going through their own struggles and hardships. You should not allow others to boss you around., you should not be to harsh on yourself when you make mistakes, instead you should try to find out where you went wrong and fix the mistake made there. never hesitate to
voice your opinions, even when everyone else is against it. don't focus on what you don't have in life but focus on the good things in life. as it says in the song, 'Count your blessings not your flaws'.
don't try to force things you want to happen, but give them time to occur. if they are meant to happen they will, if they aren't then they will not happen. Don't hold grudges that don't need to be held, because the only thing vengeance ever leads to is everyone getting hurt, whether it be emotionally or physically.
