Linkin Park – Leave Out All The Rest lyrics
I dreamed I was missing, you were so scared
But no one would listen, 'cause no one else cared
After my dreaming, I woke with this fear
What am I leaving when I'm done here
?

So if you're asking me, I want you to know

When my time comes, forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed

Don't resent me, and when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory, leave out all the rest

Leave out all the rest, don't be afraid
I've taken my beating, I've shared what I made
I'm strong on this surface, not all the way through
I've never been perfect, but neither have you

So if you're asking me, I want you to know

When my time comes, forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
Don't resent me, and when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory, leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest

Forgetting all the hurt inside you've learned to hide so well
Pretending someone else can come and save me from myself
I can't be who you are

When my time comes, forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
Don't resent me, and when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory, leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest

Forgetting all the hurt inside you've learned to hide so well
Pretending someone else can come and save me from myself
I can't be who you are

I can't be who you are

I think the writer of the song implies that no one is perfect, we all have flaws in life and even when no one else seems to care he wanted his loved ones to remember the good things that he has done. He has his shares in life, hurts the people he loves, in contrary to all the wrongs that he did he wanted to be remembered as a good person. Because, even though you sees the strong character in his personality he has also fears that he doesn't show. As far as he wanted he cared for his loved ones and what they will remember about him when he's gone. Leave out all the rest means remember me for the good things that I've done and forget all the rest that's bad.

All lives will end some day, sooner or later. Many don't take it seroiusly and think they have their whole lives to make an impact. He must have been one of those people. He realise that he was not as great as he thought he was. One day he has a dream that he dies and no one remebers him after he dies. He realises that the person who will miss him the most is a girlfriend or wife. They must have had some rough patches, hence the line"forget the wrong i've done, dont resent me". He wants her to remeber him as a good person, he was never perfect. He wants her to also help him make that impact. He must have been somekind of addict hence pretending that someone will save him. He was never prefect just like everyone of us.
In the video, it looks as if the band is about to break up and want people to remeber them, to forget the flops they had but keep in mind the good songs.

I just think this song basically means. Even though someone or people or you even do something wrong or somethings wrong when they're gone remember the good things they did not the bad things. Because most people want to be remembered not forgotten like a box in the attic.
Also I don't think this song is romatic, but that's just me.
I love this song and linkin park they are the best band period end of story no questions asked.

This song is awesome its like my fav linkin park song and I don't even mind that its not all like bam. I think this song is about how when someone does somethin terrible but they want people to remember them for somethin good and not having their faults overshadow who they are: "someone else cant come and save me from myself". I like how it suits what edward would think in new moon. Ps twilight rox!

This song is about a guy that knowing he might not be living for a long time, wants her to remember him for the right reasons. He feels that she is the only one he can confide in and wants to tell her that he might seem strong, but he's not perfect. Lastly, he wants her to enjoy her own life and during troubled times, to let the thought of him cheer her up.

The persona implies that when he dies, he wants the person (or persons) he loved will never resent him for his mistakes, his wrongdoings.
He wants them to remember all the good things about him and forget the rest, the bad ones.
He knows he is not perfect but neither anybody else, so he's asking to remembered despite his flaws.
He doesn't give a damn about what other people think of him, what matters is what loved ones think about him after he dies.
"leave out all the rest" means forget the bad memories, ignore other people's bad talks about the deceased.
And he also wants to say that he is sorry. "i cant be who u r"

It's like the rock version of "If Tomorrow Never Comes" by Garth Brooks. He had a dream that he had died. When he awoke, he though to himself that when he does die, he wants to be remembered for something great. -It's not who or how many remember you, it's what people remember you for.- He does want his significant other to forget all the bad he's done. He's also saying that she can't change him ("pretending someone else can come and save me from myself. I can't be you").
    That's my take.

It is really touching as said before about someone that is afreaid he will go (i dremed I was missing you were so scared) but leave out all the rest meaning all the times that made them sad. He is saying he can't be who the other person, he can't live up to standards but hell do his best so there is something to remember that brings a smile to your face.

This song is wonderful in every way. If you listen to the song past it's Twilight meaning, here's what I got from it:.
A boy has a dream that he's committed suicide, and that his love is lost without him. When he wakes up, he sees his life in a new way, and that without her there, his life has no meaning.
He wants her to know that, just in case he can't hold on, she needs to help him hang on and give him a reason to stay.

Both my parents died this year and I played it at both their funerals, he lied all the time to everyone to stir up trouble and cause pranks, he was always playing around and never serious and lost a lot of friends by pranking too far so remember him for his good and leave out all the rest, for mother she had cancer and has been thru a lot and she took her own life, keep her in your memory of the love she had and the good heart she had and leave out the hurt and sadness she had in the end.

In my mind this song is about someone trying to reconcile who he is so he'll matter it's not about space travel or from a character's perspective it's a lot like a suicide note. Going off the suicide note theory of mine, he's saying that can you find it in your heart to forgive me but please just remember the good times we had when I was alive.

I got this song from the Twilight soundtrack. I'm not sure how it relates to this movie, but I loved this song.
I think this song means that this man had a dream where he was gone, and no one cared but one person. When he woke up, he thought about what he was leaving and who would care when he's gone.
In the chorus he says that when he's gone, he wants everyone to forget everything he's done wrong, and to help him leave reasons for people to miss him. He doesn't want anyone to hate him for what he's done, and for them to keep only the good memories of him.
This song is very moving and really has a meaning behind it, unlike many other songs these days.

When you start nearing the end of your life you sometimes wonder what have you set an example for what have you done good and what have you done bad, so when you do die tell your loved ones to remember all the good things, tell them things that you have done so they can remember you for them and don't resent me meaning you don't have to protect my image don't ruin your life because a loved one died, and if you ever do miss them or if your feeling down remember those things, nothing more, leave out all the rest.

To me, this song is more than just about a dying man, its about me. I dedicate this song to my ex of 6 years. Through out the years we had the best times in our lives. All the new experiences that will never be new again. Those moments that can't be re-done. That lock up in time in this surreal dream of eternal bliss. But reality is the bliss isn't permanent and the bad times do come; but for a long time we were able to surpass them. But in the end, too many wrong doings scar your heart and make you sour. You leave with regret, hate, and resentment. The actions are too strong to let them go. So this song is to remind ourselves of all the good things that once surpassed all the bad things. To remember who the real person is you let go of and hopefully they remember you the same way. The hurt will go on forever if you feel taken forgranted and un-forgiven, at least by the one person who you once loved, trusted and knew you and loved you more than anyone else. This is to you.

The world will end, the are leaving to outer space, or another planet, he does not want to feel guilty or be resented as a coward so he sings us this song to claim that he is human and not perfect, but he has a choice to leave this world so he will take it, he has assurance of survival in the day to end to come, but none of the rest which will be left behind, he cannot be who we are when the time comes as in believing in God as he does not he beleives in science and fact, and the rest of us left in our blind faith is someone he cannot be, as he leaves this world. (watch the Music Video) its so clear, open your mind Fools! The Illuminati has done it again. Genex5.

Um, what the hell, ashley barks?
It's obviously from Edward's perspective, anyone who has read the book can see that much. It's more of a new moon song, like "forget the wrong that i've done help my leave behind some reasons to be messed, and don't resent me but when you're feeling empty keep me in your memory leave out all the rest, leave out all the rest" is very like, new moon. Like when he's gone he wants her to know that he still cares.
But it can also be a twilight song because "forget the wrong that i've done" can refer to his behaviour towards her on the first day she arrives at school.
If it was from Bella's perspective, I have no idea how to explain that. It's just retarded.

I think its more along the lines of.
The song writer is talking about a past relationship/love, now they have parted ways. There's resentment on both sides. Whatever the reason for the break up, the song writer knew all along it wasn't going to work out. She wasn't the one. Now time has passed and reflecting back, the song writer is saying lets put it all behind. We knew we weren't right for eachother, atleast I did. So lets remember the good and forget about the bad and the mistakes we each made.

    Hey angel_ofsin!
I don't know if I will be able to explain you the meaning of the song but I will try.
I think the person who talks in this song think about the death and realize he(she) didn't do what he(she) should (i don't know if this sentence mean something: s) "When my time comes, forget the wrong that I've done "
This person wants some people to remember her after her death "Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed "
    I'm sorry I can't speak english very well so I don't know if you'll understand. I can't explain more: s

It is so beautiful song with deep feelings and it is difficult to tell meaning of those words because it has some secret meaning and if you read lyrics few times you must see that meaning; love is something that keep us together even after our death,-he- had this one person who is so connected with him and when that person feels empty or dissappointed, she only must think of someone is watching over her all over the time.

I think that it means that he had done some things in his life that he regretted, and he didn't want the one person who would remember him to think of him in that way. He had a dream and he realized that only one person would care when he left this world and he wanted them to know that he wanted them to remind people of his good traits. It really is a good song.

My mate recently committed suicide and we played this song at his funeral and I can't stop listening to it.
This song has nothing to do with twilight so get over the stupid books. And it might help if you go out and get a life and stop making everything about twilight.
My friend who passed is known not for the bestest things in our small town. But his friends and family remember him for all the good things he's done and good times we had with him. He had only just turned 21 and he had a beautiful little boy.
    Miss you always!
