This song means a lot to me - now more than ever. I'm leaving for college in two years and my mom is still trying to control everything that I do. She searches my room, reads any paper she finds, goes through all my stuff, texts my friends on my phone pretending to be me just to see what kind of information she can get. Its ridiculous! I've gotten to the point where I've had my best friend hide my sketchbooks at her house because my work is a bit dark, and my mom would never allow "devil worship" in the house. Its not! Its just. What I felt when I drew it. Like the one with a gun to the head.
But anyway, she tries controlling everything. She wants me to be the perfect little christian housewife/mommy, and I don't want to be. For one, I'm studying to be Wiccan (and keeping that under wraps from her), I couldn't care less about getting married right now, and I don't want kids. I take care of my little brother enough to know its too much work for me on top of everything else.
She sees what she wants to see, and I just let her believe it. I'm just not really what she sees anymore. Its sad when you leave the house, get to where you're going, then change you're clothes or call up whoever you're really meeting just because its not "mother approved" even when its not bad at all.

I think this song is adout a person how is acting like some one they are not and they see that is not going to get them any where and so the song is trying or is saying that it is time to stop being some one your not and it is time to show the world who you really are because if you don't who knows what will happen :( maybe you will go numb! (this song makes me really happy) just be who you are! :)

I really love this song. It means to lose yourself completly and allowing other people pressure you how into how you should act and what you should do and not what you should do with your life, and in the process of it all you lose your former self. You slowly become numb and can't feel anything at all inside but emptyness, and you also become a totally different person all together.

"Numb" is the thirteenth and final song on the 2003 album Meteora by Linkin Park, and is also the album's third single. "Numb" topped the Modern Rock Tracks chart for 6 weeks in 2003 and 6 weeks in 2004, making it the only song in history to be the most successful song of the year on the chart for 2 years. The music video follows the domestic and social problems faced during a day in the life of a young, unpopular female student(portrayed by Briana Evigan). The girl apparently spends much of her time drawing pictures, revealing that she probably has dreams of becoming an artist. She is largely ignored at school, considering that when she is told off by the teacher for drawing in class everybody laughs at her, when she trips on the stairs nobody stops to help her up, and that when she tries to join a group of girls at a lunch table they immediately get up and leave. Also, there is a scene where her mother is upset with her for not being the daughter she wanted. There are also cuts on her arms, which actually say "Numb". She is shown near the end of the video rubbing the scars after a stressful day, and then deciding to work off her stress by throwing paint instead. At the end of the video, the girl runs into the church that the band was singing in, almost as if she heard them. The track became one of Linkin Park's most critically-acclaimed songs, as well as one of their most commercially successful, peaking at #11 on the you. S. Billboard Hot 100 on February 24, 2004 and topping Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart. It was also successful in Oceania, peaking at #10 in Australia and #13 in New Zealand. Wow, this song describes a lot about me my whole life everyone except for couple of close mates have always wanted me to be like them but instead of doing that I myself became numb I do have the scars on my arm to prove it and so now I'm only being the real me around my two closest mates everyone else I act numb and cold and unemotional around and you know what I'm happy with that and I love this song and what it means so s***w you world.
