For so long I have been searching for talented artists like the civil wars and here I am, listening to them everyday, going to their concerts, getting as much of them as I can. I really do hope they become real popular, they are genuine artists and deserve it 100%. I feel this song aiming towards a specific relationship downfall, where the couple doesn't know where to go from where they are. I know the feeling of feeling like you want to stay in a relationship, but know it's not good for you. All in all, this song is amazing! :)

The whole song is powerful but the line "please tell me you know" really gets to me. She says sooo much in that one line. Like having to be the one to break up the relationship, having to be the one to break the others heart. Its so painful. "please tell me you know", tell me you've noticed so this whole thing can be just a little bit easier, but it isn't. It wont be. And I can't keep living this life. I can't spend another minute living while I'm dying inside. Ugh such a powerful song.

She doesn't love him anymore, and even though she knows it's the right relationship to be in ("tell me it's nothing, try to convince me, that i'm not drowning") and she almost wants him to talk her into staying, she can't convince herself that she still lives him. She is sleepwalking because the relationship has become a force of habit and she can't find the energy or desire to put anymore into her relationship.

I love this song and listen to it probly ten times a day. I believe the meaning of the song to be that this ladys lover died and she feels incomplete without him there beside her. Although she feels that his spirit is still there with her she doesn't feel the same and must move on no matter the pain that may come throughout the proccess. She doesn't want to spend/waste the rest of her life greeving over something she can never have again. This is her way of saying she is sorry to him for wanting to move on an not continue her sorrows over him. I just love this song so much, it's so deep with meaning and could mean something completly different to others! That's why it's so perfect.

She's not in love anymore and can't find it in her heart to tell him, so the longer she's puts it off the worse she feels hoping that he will finally wake up and realize it on his own that she is miserable. Funny because I was in "his shoes" not hers in my last relationship and this song makes me not hate him as much for breaking my heart.
