Mark Ronson – Uptown Funk lyrics
[Verse 1]
This hit, that ice cold
Michelle Pfeiffer, that white gold

This one, for them hood girls
Them good girls
Straight masterpieces

Stylin', wilin'
Livin’ it up in the city

Got Chucks on with Saint Laurent
Gotta kiss myself I’m so pretty

[Pre-Chorus]
I’m too hot (hot damn)
Call the police and the fireman
I’m too hot (hot damn)
Make a dragon wanna retire man
I’m too hot (hot damn)
Say my name you know who I am
I’m too hot (hot damn)
And my band 'bout that money
Break it down

[Chorus]
Girls hit your hallelujah
Girls hit your hallelujah
Girls hit your hallelujah
Cause Uptown Funk gon’ give it
to you
Cause Uptown Funk gon’ give it to you
Cause Uptown Funk gon’ give it to you
Saturday night and we in the
spot
Don’t believe me, just watch (come
on)
Don’t believe me, just watch
Don’t believe me, just watch
Don’t believe me, just watch
Don’t believe me, just watch
Don’t believe me, just watch
Hey, hey, hey, oh!

[Verse 2]
Stop
Wait a minute

Fill my cup put some liquor in it
Take a sip, sign the check
Julio! Get the stretch!
Ride to Harlem, Hollywood, Jackson, Mississippi

If we show up, we gon’ show out
Smoother than a fresh jar of
Skippy

[Pre-Chorus 2]
I’m too hot (hot
damn)
Call the police and the fireman
I’m too hot (hot damn)
Make
a dragon wanna retire man
I’m too hot (hot damn)
Bitch
, say my name you know who I am!
I’m too hot (hot damn)
And
my band 'bout that money
Break it down

[Chorus]
Girls hit your hallelujah
Girls
hit your hallelujah
Girls hit your hallelujah
Cause Uptown Funk gon’ give it to you
Cause Uptown Funk gon’ give it to you
Cause Uptown Funk gon’
give it to you
Saturday night and we in the spot
Don’t believe me, just watch (come on)
Don’t believe me, just watch
Don’t believe me, just watch
Don’t believe me, just watch
Don’t believe me, just watch
Don’t believe me, just watch
Hey, hey, hey, oh!

[Verse 3]
Before we leave
Lemme tell y’all
a lil’ something
Uptown Funk you up, Uptown Funk you up
Uptown Funk you up
, Uptown Funk you up
I said Uptown Funk you up, Uptown Funk you up
Uptown Funk you up, Uptown Funk you up
Come on, dance
Jump on it
If you sexy then flaunt it

If you freaky then own it
Don’t brag about it, come show me
Come on, dance
Jump on it
If you sexy then flaunt it
Well it’s Saturday night and we in the spot

[Chorus]
Girls hit your hallelujah
Girls hit your hallelujah
Girls hit your
hallelujah
Cause Uptown Funk gon’ give it to you
Cause Uptown Funk gon’ give it to you
Cause Uptown
Funk gon’ give it to you
Saturday night and we in the spot
Don’t believe me, just watch (come on)
Don’t believe me, just watch
Don’t believe me, just watch
Don’t believe me, just watch
Don’t believe me, just watch
Don’t believe me, just watch
Hey, hey, hey, oh!

[Outro]
Uptown Funk you up, Uptown Funk you up (say whaa?!)
Uptown Funk
you up, Uptown Funk you up
Uptown Funk you up, Uptown Funk you
up (say whaa?!)
Uptown Funk you up, Uptown Funk you up
Uptown Funk you up, Uptown Funk you up (say whaa?!)
Uptown Funk you up, Uptown Funk you up
Uptown Funk you up, Uptown Funk you up (say whaa?!)
Uptown Funk you up

I saw a post in tumblr that Uptown Funk is basically "Blurred Lines of 2015" . Well, I don't think this song is sexist. I think song is about a narcissist...? Not sure though XD But I think this song doesn't really have a deep meaning to it, all it means (well for me) Is chilling around and having fun with the beat (funk). That's why it's called Uptown Funk, right? This song is very catchy and is even better than Blurred Lines (Blurred Lines has a horrible message and meaning btw.) Uptown Funk has some 80's vibe to it which is very good indeed.

This song is about is about brown dudes scoring with hard-to-get white chicks. "Uptown"= where the rich "white gold" live; "funk you up"= exposing her to "funk" culture/i.e. type of R&B mostly by black/brown musicians/i.e. take her to brown town. "Girls hit your halleluah (Orgasm) Cuz Uptown [,] funk gonna give it to ya". Should read as a statement to the girl (uptown). "Rich chick, this brown dude's gonna give it to you until you hit your halleluah" "smoother than a fresh jar of skippy (peanut butter/get it?)" "Don't believe me? Just watch" This is a typical guy-on-the-town-to-get-some song. He's on the hunt for some "uptown" and he's gonna be so hot and charming and virile she won't turn her nose up but give it up and he'll have his conquest. "Bitch, say my name you know who I am".

I think this song is about being full of life and feeling good about yourself and the opposite sex. One could change the focus from "girls hit your hallelujah" to "boys hit your hallelujah" because the meaning of the word HALLELUJAH! is a shout of joy, praise, or gratitude. Therefore in this song seeing the opposite sex makes the singer express praise to the "One Who Shall Prove" that we were created male and female and each one is beautiful in the eyes of the other. It is a celebration of joy and well being. It is a celebration of joyful life energy (see www.freeonlinedictionary.com which I used for my reference). Letting the music "funk you up" means letting the rhythm of the music lift your heart in joy and well being. "Say my name you know who I am" I am a one who is beautiful and happy. Showing up and "jumping on it" dancing to the beat. Jumping to the beat. "Get on it". Move and celebrate life. "Uptown funk you up." Going uptown to get hear the rhythm and dance with the joy of being alive and free on a Saturday night. Smooth and sweet and full of the heat of being alive.

This song isn't sexist? It talks about how the guy loves himself. You feminist need to sit down. It is not even sexist, you are just babies. "Hit your halleujah" does NOT mean you get hit in the balls. I'm not sure what it is. But anyway, good song, very catchy, and fun to listen too. Just about a man loving himself and girls. Nothing new. :)

Basically about him getting high and bragging about it and the fact that money brought him to where is right now or today. Although it is a catchy song. I know how to play it on ukulele and pretty well too. At least that's how I interpret the song. Might not be right but that's how I interpret the song.

This song is about a fine black man who has made it in the world, far beyond his wildest dreams. HE HAS MONEY FAME AND SYTLE. He feels great about it. He has surpassed his brother's in everything that spelled success back in the 70s. This includes being accepted uptown attracting the finest females and living large. He is feeling it real and celebrating with everyone who will rock with him.

I think that this song is about how the person singing this song is very committed to the thought that he is a very attractive person, as a long and detailed description about how "hot" he is. The song also reaches out to girls, advising that they prepare themselves for a "special" experience. It also advises doubters to watch and have their doubts confirmed about him being a very attractive person. It also advises people to not hide their attractiveness. To be proud of it, not ashamed.

I agree with Unregistered to some extent and would go even further. Does 'Chucks' refer to old time term for white folk? Is 'Dragon' a gang? And don't I hear the 'n' being substituted by a 'c' throughout the 'Fu-k you up' chorus/outro for no other reason than to be shocking? Overall awful lyrics cobbled together from any number of repetitive rap songs.

I think this song is about how these men love to be with girls and how they act sexual and crazy when there around with women. These men are constantly living in the hood. Or maybe every time they good to a place where they have to perform a lot of fans scream and shout and they like that feeling. Especially when girls cheer.

This song is just straight up sexist. I think it is about like sexual tips of how to get girls and on the one part girls hit your hallelujah its girls kicking you in the balls because your being a 100% pervert. It is also sexist because at the beginning it is saying stuff girls do like saying their pretty and doing all of that which they don't.
