Midnight Hour – Running Away lyrics
Don't lie and say that it's ok.
It's alright here, there's
nothing more to say.
So I'm running away.
I'm leaving this place.
Yeah, I'm running away.
I'm running away.

Don't tell me I'm the one to blame.
It's too late for you to make me stay.
No, I won't stay.
So I'm running away.
I'm leaving this place.
Yeah, I'm running away.
I'm running away.

And faster than you can follow me from this lonely place.
And farther than you can find me, I'm leaving
Yeah I'm leaving today.
And I, I'll never let you find me.
I'm leaving you behind with the past
No, I won't look back.
And I don't want to hear your reasons.
Don't want to hear you tell me why I should stay.

And try, and try to understand me
And try to understand what I say when I say I can't stay
I, I'm moving on from this place
I'm leaving and I won't quit running away.

I'm running away.
I'm leaving this place.
Yeah, I'm running away.
I'm running away.

I love, love, love this song and listen to it often. The lyrics can involve other people, but I think it is a battle that we all face within ourselves. When faced with decisions, we go back and forth between our needs and the needs of others. Our actions affect those close to us, however, when we follow our hearts, our dreams, and our passions, those that pursuits can and do affect others. Parents worry about children moving forward. Siblings worry for us and the choices we make. Friends are concerned for our well-being. "i'm running away" means I'm running from the here and now. And not going back.

The song by the rock group midnight hour called "running away" would perfectly illustrate cain's response towards god's invitation to repentance after killing his brother, abel, if sung with a very different attitude.
Cain struggled with his guilty conscience. It would say, "don't lie and say that it's ok. " but he would attempt to arrest his conscience by answering, "it's alright if there's nothing more to say. "
Satan, knowing just how to play his cards, tempted cain with the suggestive thought, "so i'm running away; i'm leaving this place. " as usual satan disguises lies in truth. Cain had to truthfully acknowledge, "yeah, i'm running away. " but, as if he really could evade god's watchful eye, "i'm running away! " he determined to do. (we know from jonah that running away from god doesn't work.)
In answer to god's call upon his life to repent and live in righteousness, cain arrogantly answered, "don't tell me i'm the one to blame! " you're the one who set the boundaries for my life, of which I do not approve, and neither should I need to be my brother's keeper. "it's too late for you to make me stay. " I will not be ruled by you. "no, i won't stay," came the stubborn response.
"so i'm running away; i'm leaving this place. Yeah, i'm running away. I'm running away! " selling himself on the idea wasn't all that hard. What's hard is to think rationally when pride gets pricked.
As cain listened to satan's suggestions, it became more solidified in his mind that maybe he really could be master of his own life. "and faster than you can follow me from this lonely place" began the boast. It continued with "and farther than you can find me. I'm leaving, yeah, i'm leaving today. " it ended with "and i," I. E. Not anyone else, "i'll never let you find me. I'm leaving you behind with the past. "
Just before he heard last from god, he shot this arrow, "no, i won't look back! And i don't want to hear your reasons; don't want to hear you tell me why i should stay. " why should he want to sacrifice his will to submit to god?
But the last gasps of his conscience prodded him. As the last searing of his conscience took place, he spoke these words to it. "and try! And try to understand me; and try to understand what i say when i say i can't stay. I'm moving on from this place. I'm leaving and i won't wait. I'm running away. I'm running away. I'm leaving this place. Yeah, i'm running away; i'm running away! " thus he died to the prompting of his conscience.
It doesn't matter whether it's a heart-breaking love-gone-wrong song that strikes a chord of sympathy within us or a defiant statement of declaration. Whether we are running away from our relationship with god, with others, or trying it with ourselves, the outcome is still the same unless we face matters appropriately, think properly, and apply godly principles, repenting where necessary. The chapters of our lives must be rightly drawn to a close before we can continue or we will never be through with running away. And running away from problems only causes problems to grow bigger and the consequences to compound gigantically. It always takes two to tangle, and at least your conscience and your will goes with you everywhere, not to mention anybody else you might be involved with. Running away almost always involves broken love and trust, right and wrong. Between people it's usual that both parties bear some guilt.

I don't know if I'm right but I think he's in a relationship with this girl and they've broken up, the relationship isn't working anymore or she cheated on him and he's running away, moving on and finally getting away from the pain of having to be together. Maybe she's trying to make him stay but he knows he can't pretend that everything is okay between them so he's just going to forget her and make sure that she doesn't drag him back so he's just going to continue running away from her.
