Miranda Lambert – Gunpowder And Lead lyrics
County road 233, under my feet
Nothin' on this white rock but little ole me
I've got two miles till, he makes bail
And if I'm right we're headed straight for hell

Chorus:

I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun
Wait by the door and light a cigarette
If he wants a fight well now he's got one
And he ain't seen me crazy yet
He slap my face and he shook me like a rag doll
Don't that sound like a real man
I'm going to show him what a little girls made of
Gunpowder and lead

It's half past ten, another six pack in
And I can feel the rumble like a cold black wind
He pulls in the drive, the gravel flies
He don't know what's waiting here this time

I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun
Wait by the door and light a cigarette
If he wants a fight well now he's got one
And he ain't seen me crazy yet
He slap my face and he shook me like a rag doll
Don't that sound like a real man
I'm going to show him what a little girls made of
Gunpowder and lead

His fist is big but my gun's bigger
He'll find out when I pull the trigger

I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun
Wait by the door and light a cigarette
If he wants a fight well now he's got one
And he ain't seen me crazy yet
He slap my face and he shook me like a rag doll
Don't that sound like a real man
I'm going to show him what a little girls made of
Gunpowder gunpowder and lead

The line "His fist is big, but my gun's bigger..." means that no matter how many times he hits, her "gun" will always do more damage. Her "gun" is whatever she uses to fight back, whether it be words or an actual gun or something else that will hurt him physically. Technically, his "fist" is actually whatever he uses to abuse her. I have been mentally abused by my own father, telling me I'd never see my mother's side of the family again, that he'd kidnap me and take me away. I used this song to get through this when it happened and now I know whenever he's lying to me. When I told my mother, she came out to the place where he lived, almost 3,000 miles away, his face proved the saying "A picture's worth a thousand words." "Gunpowder and Lead" is the best song for this kind of abuse, and my gun (my mother) was way bigger than his fists (my father's claims on kidnapping me, and other things) and I will never, ever forget that summer. Forgive him, yes, but forget: no. Never will I ever forget that moment when he said I would never see my mother again. I screamed so loudly the neighbors threatened to call the cops. I'm loading my shotgun, ya'll.

I think gunpowder and lead means that just because certain types of men think they are big and put thier hands on a women in a way that they shouldnt really arnt that big at all! By no means do I think that miranda means it is ok to shoot them in the back yard lol but it kind of teaches a woman that it is ok to stand up for themselves. Women don't have to set back and be the shadows of any man espcially one that doesn't respect us to the point they put there hands on us!

When a woman finally has had enough, she will eventually be pushed far enough and find her strength and fight back. While I am not phyisically abused, I am mentally, and I am finally sick of it! I am starting to fight back and the people in my life don't like it. We eventually will all find our strength and self esteem. I love this song and it has helped me start to get my backbone back and say to myself that I can fight back and not have to take anyone's abuse or mistreatment anymore. I just won't fight back with a shotgun.

Men that beat the woman that they " love" don't really " love" them at all. All they are doing is trying to show you that they really don't care about you but hey know that you won't leave them because you have no one else to go to. If you are a woman in an abusive relationship you need to get out as fast as you can. Stay with a friend, your parents or something just get away from the guy. And that is my two cents. Good song by the way!
