Muse – Exogenesis: Symphony Part I lyrics
Aping my soul
You stole my overture
Trapped in god's program
Oh I can't escape
Who are we?
Where are we?
When are we?
Who are we?
Who are we?
Where are we?
Why Why Why?

I can't forgive you
And I can't forget
Who are we?
Where are we?
When are we?
Who are we in here?

I completely agree with you Stock! Some reviews say these symphonies are self indulgent - I view it quite the opposite! While listening to these last three songs on the Resistance album I felt that I was going back in time experiencing a great composition of music but with a futuristic feel. I totally dig this kind of stuff and it's hard to find people who feel the same way, and can relate to it as I do. ;) love it!

For anyone whos read the book 1984, they completely understand this song, but for anyone who has not read this book. Please do. Bc this album is based on the book. Bssically at this part of the book. Big brother nd the goverment and thought police have stolen the protagonist and are using some kind of mind control to corrupt his brain. And make him think whats right, based on the thoughts of the government. The who are we where are we why are we. Is based on the soul principles of the govetnment. The government is made up so no one knows what time in life they really are. I'm not going to give an entire synopsis. The who are we why are we, just relates to the protagonists struggle to find out why there alive. Aping my soul youve stole my overture. Aping the soul is when they destory his soul and make it identical to that of a perfect soul of the party. Basically what I said is complete jargon for anyone who hasnt read 1984, so go read it. Now.

Eery lyrics. I didn't even know these existed till I saw this page. It just sounded like random Ahhing and Oooohing xd Sick, glad someone found them.
I do think In the storyline of the album, this is like, a realization of the deeds and stuff that "The Resistance" has put the world through. Finalizing their thoughts for what happens during Cross-Pollination. Exquisite emotion and thought Matt put into this. He is a genius of Our generation. I hope no one reading this overlooks that. This is the Beethoven of our generation.

I think in this one it's like he wants to be running his own life as he wants without being in "gods big plan". Everyone's life is already mapped out for them and maybe he's saying "what if? What if we didnt follow that path, maybe we should stray from the path and find out who we really are?" I dunno, amazing work, I could listen to it all the time and not get bored!
