Muse – United States Of Eurasia lyrics
You and me are the same
We don't know or care who's to blame
But we know that whoever holds the reins
Nothing will change
Our cause has gone insane

And these wars, they can't be won
And these wars, they can't be won

And do you want them to go on
And on and on
Why split these states
When there can be only one?

And must we do as we're told?
Must we do as we're told
?

You and me fall in line
To be punished for unproven crimes!
And
we know that there is no one we can trust;
Our ancient heroes, they are turning to dust!

And these wars, they can't be won
Does anyone know or care how they begun
?
They just promise to go on
And on and on
But soon we will see
There can be only one

United States!
United States!
Of...

Eurasia!
... Sia!
... Sia!
... Sia!

Eurasia!
... Sia!
... Sia!
... Sia!

Eurasia!
... Sia!
... Sia!
... Sia!

Political stuff or not, it hits me like a baseball bat, am smacked round the head. Lol It's Brilliant! And it's the new bohemian tragedy.
Beautiful and idealistic, as a child and still now didn't understand the meaning of borders, why all the plitting up?
It's a geoism thing aswell, human, idealistic and geological, the combination with Chopin is natural. Hmm. I love it, when will they write their first opera?

This song --for anyone who hasn't realized-- is directly about 1984. A book by George Orwell.
In it has three super states (Oceania, eurasia, and Eastasia) who are constantly at war in order for the leaders of these states to be forever controlled. Its all about power and brainwashing. George Orwell lived in the ages of the Great Wars where most of it is influenced by Stalin.
In the book they are ruled over by Big Brother(the figure head). Thier entire lives are restricted and watched.
This song is without a doubt, 100% 1984. Seriously. Not that's a bad thing but its just annoying to see people thinking its about Bush or Obama and how Muse made such deep lines when these are direct quotes from the Book. Go read it.

I wonder. Wouldn't unmediated text boxes like this one just go on accruing comment after comment indefinitely? And at some point in time, the amount of text entered would simply be too much. The site will either have to delete/archive old comments or stop accepting new ones.
As for the song itself, it's very good. I think the riff after 'must we do as we're told? ' is the best thing in it. It has got this middle eastern sound which I will never tire off. It somehow conveys spaciousness and vastness, along with a feeling of inevitability: how we have no say in these matters.

I do believe that echoes of Queen are heard here for a reason. It is both homage and metephorical. Symbolising uk's stance in Europe. We are one human race. But its our sublte differences and nuances that make us stand apart. For example the uk is so far apart from Turkey is another world entirely.(without going into the whole eu issue thing)United States of Eurasia is a definate possibilty of or future. Do we want that? Please don't let thought police punish me, and I hope I translated properly.

Wow! I thought I was going to have to come on here and school people about what is really happening in the world and what this song is really about. But after reading comments about watching Fall of the Republic, Obama Deception, Endgame. Etc, I have nothing else left to say except I am glad people are waking up and we need to wake more people. Knowledge is power. If we can't beat this, then we can at least prepare by buying silver, storable food, water, weapons, seeds, gardening tools, a tent and other important necessities during an economic and societal collapse.
Thank God for Muse and other artists who are speaking out.

I believe it's all about the ruling families of the world (you may call'em the inner circle of 10 of the Bildelberg group), that want to become "a brave new world" a reality, us beeing the working underlings of that society, and them the ruling dinasty forcing peace thru power and thru indoctrinated lies in the early years of ev'ry labor ant of us. But don't believe me, Investigate it for yourself (zeitgeist, end game: world slavery plan, Ron Paul, matrix project, shock doctrine, club bildelberg), chose carefully the truth between the lies, and Enjoy. B proactive.

First of all, this is a great f*****g song.
To me, the lyrics express people's unanimity over the current wars as both unwinnable and unjustified, as well as the frustration of being unable to do anything about it, and thus having to rely on the leaders we already don't trust. Furthermore, they also seem to express an antagonistic view of the consolidating of the world powers in the form of the one world government which we are currently moving towards.

    isn't USA Oceania?
because it is the once free countries that have the 1984 revolution to take down liberty
idk maybe it's because muse is more popular in europe so they say eurasia :/
but srsly although muse had sold out to the powers that be after the olympcs
I believe they still have considerable of intention to make people see the conspiracy (don't tell me that conspiracy don't exist you peasants, you deserve to be slaves if you can't see the manipulation in media that shows massive conspiratory collusion)
