My Chemical Romance – Thank You For The Venom lyrics
Sister, I'm not much a poet, but a criminal
And you never had a chance,

Love it, or leave it, you can't understand
A pretty face but you do so carry on,
And on,
And on

I wouldn't front the scene if you paid me
I'm just the way that the doctor made me on,
And on,
And on

Love is the red the rose on your coffin door
What's life like bleeding on the floor?
The floor,
The floor

You'll never make me leave
I wear this on my sleeve
Give me a reason to believe

So give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
That make me I'll
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will

Preach all you want, but who's gonna save me?
I keep a gun on the book you gave me,
Hallelujah, lock and load

Black is the kiss, the touch of the serpent son,
It aint the mark or the scar that makes you one
And one
And one
And one

You'll never make me leave
I'll wear this on my sleeve
Give me a reason to believe

So give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
That make me ill
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will

(Guitar solo)

You'll never make me leave
I'll wear this on my sleeve
You wanna follow something
Give me a better cause to lead
Just give me what I need
Give me a reason to believe

So give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
That make me I'll
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will

So give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
That make me I'll
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will

One view of this song is that it is about missionaries attempting to convert you to their religion. The speaker complains and explains trying to brush off the missionaries since they won't succeed. 'Sister, I'm not much a criminal, and you never had a chance, love it or leave it, you can't understand, a pretty face but you do so carry on and on. ' 'Preach all you wany but who's gonna save me? I keep a gun on the book you gave me! Hallelujah, lock and load! '
Another view is that it's a dig at a scene politics and the vainer elements of the music scene. This can be heard in the lyrics; 'You'll never make me leave, I'll wear this on my sleeve, you wanna follow something, give me a better cause to lead, just give me what I need, give me a reason to believe. '

I am probably wrong but the first time I listened to it I thought that it was about someone's friend, lover or family member who is hurting themselves or possibly think about ending their life? And they want to try and help them by being in the same situation as that person.

This song is not about really about a nun trying to convert you. Its about being self destructive because of your ties to other people in life. Kinda like doing drugs because ur friend is or being depressed after you break up with someone. Its about being close to someone and going down with the ship kinda. Not like going down, but taking damage with your friend. Its also asking for a reason to stop being destructive at the end. The request goes unanswered and then the self destructive behavior starts again.

Its about a one of those people that come to your house and try to convert you to a religion. He keeps calling her sister like shes a nun. "i wouldnt front the scene if u made me" fronting that he cares and is understanding and telling her that she (and her organization) are running after something that theyll never kill, theyll never kill evil or convert eveyone to christianity. "black is the kiss the touch of the serpants son its not the mark or the scar that makes you one" saying to the nun that the way he looks has nothing to do with him being evil and the realy obvious part that hes talking to a missionary is when he says "GIVE ME A REASON TO BELIEVE" and "DISH ALL YOU WANT BUT WHO'S GUNNA SAVE ME" the book she gave him was a bible cuz you no nuns hand out bibles. "u wanna follow something just give me a better cause to lead" this songs about religion.
(Btw I be A major hardcore atheist! ^^)
