Nickelback – Hero lyrics
I am so high. I can hear heaven.
I am so high. I can hear heaven.

Woah, but heaven,
No heaven
Don't hear me.

And they say that a hero could save us,
I'm not gonna stand here and wait,
I'll hold to the wings of the eagles,
Watch as we all fly away.

Someone told me love would all save us,
But how can that be,
Look what love gave us,
A World full of killing,
And blood-spilling, that world never came.

And they say that a hero could save us,
I'm not gonna stand here and wait,
I'll hold on to the wings of the eagles,
Watch as we all fly away.
Aaaaa...

Now that the world isn't ending,
It's love that I'm sending to you,
It isn't the love of a hero,
And that's why I fear it won't do.

And they say that a hero could save us,
I'm not gonna stand here and wait,
I'll hold on to the wings of the eagles,
Watch as we all fly away.

And they're watching us, (watching us)
They're watching us, (watching us)
As we all fly away,
And they're watching us, (watching us) they're watching us, (watching us)
As we all fly away (yeah)
Yeah,
And they're watching us (watching us)
They're watching us (watching us)
As we all fly awayyy,
Yeah yeah
Woahhhh.

Well, the thing is, I believe this song has so much more depth than people give it credit for. Sadly, a lot of it was lost when they tacked it onto a movie, but the actual message in it is simple, but fairly deep.
It's essentially about a man (or woman, to be fair) who feels overwhelmed, like even heaven itself were oblivious to their plight. But they know that they have a responsibility to do something to help those around them, even if they feel they can't ever do enough. And in the end, they feel that it's still not quite enough, that they've given all they can, but it may not be sufficient, that they may not have earned the love or respect of the people they helped because of it. But they keep going.
For no other reason than they know they have to.

To truly understand the meaning of this song we must look inside ourselves and realize who we truly are because what we are is not important but who we are and we must fight for our freedom and liberate ourselves from the clutches of mans evil doings and wrongs and allow ourselves to truly live in peace in all times otherwise we will lose balance and then our world will become chaos incarnate. "Someone told me love would all save us,
    But how can that be,
    Look what love gave us."

I think it is all about the importance of the hero, who defend from the evil, which a lot of time is not negotiable, and if you fail trying negotiate with him in the way of love, then you have to take steps of defense by power, and defeat him. If not, you are hypocrite, and although you think you really high, heaven can't really hear you, and you just bring more blood spilling. Basically it is against radical leftist who make de-moralization to the heroes who defend everyone, like the US or Israel army, or any legit army who fights terror and crime.

It is biblical. Look at the book of revelation. America is the eagle with wings. Wings represent our freedom. Our christian principles provide this freedom. We as a nation turn away from god and we start noticing our freedom slipping away. The hero is god. But instead of turning to god.
To help our country, we turn more towards a socialist form of government which causes us to lose our wings of freedom. Heaven is watching us all fly away. In revelation the loss of wings of our country represents the transition of our country away from the prinicples grounded in god was founded on. Read revelation. Shortly after this occurs nation rises against nation.

Each one has his own explanations to this song, but in my personal opinion, the meaning of the song is simpler than this. This is about how love brought destruction to the world, wether it's sex, revenge, or lust and addiction. The trouble brought by love is ignored, people claiming someone will save them eventually, the cops for example. The writer however, decides to take action. It's not the end of the world, though, so he'll keep loving even though he knows what comes out of it. Everyone will be watching them as they do their thing (just like the birds do their thing, which is fly).

This is all with the Spiderman movie in mind though, if we ignore that, the song can have any number of meanings including " I'll do whatever the h*** I want, I'll leave this pithole and go to a better place. I'm better than those peasants! ".

its about God letting this happen to the earth and he sent jesus to save us but instead of believe and wait, he have to move away from the danger cause he could die any moment that's why he said "they're watching us as we fly away"
they're watching us as we are dying ., of course this could happen when a person is severe depressed and perhaps he's trying to kill his depression with a drug or alcohol "i am so high" nothing works "heaven dont hear me" or God dont hear me., he was just tried to communicate how bad a person feels when things got rough in their lifes.
