Of Mice & Men – Let Live lyrics
[Chorus:]
I was all for you, you fell over my love,
I just can't afford it this time.

Here's a story, just bare with me, met a drug that changed my life.
Something like a classic movie, just one look, all stopped with time.
Let her in through these very veins, coursing through these tired bones.
Numb my body, healed my heart, soothes my mind, and eased my soul.

These are the memories between us,
Let it go, and let live again.

[Chorus:]
I was all for you, you fell over my love,
I just can't afford it this time.
I was all for you, you fell over my love,
I just can't afford it this time.

You let me live, believing all your life.
You let me live your lie, live your lie.

You let me believe, and live you lie.

Guess I should have seen this coming, should have known it all along.
You're a fake, see clear right through you,
Left me dying, it's all your fault.

These are the memories between us,
Let it go, and let live again.

[Chorus:]
I was all for you, you fell over my love,
I just can't afford it this time.
I was all for you, you fell over my love,
I just can't afford it this time.

I gave you everything (everything),
And you just throw away (throw away).
Know what I deserve, know that I should let,
Let you go (go, go, go).

Let you go.
This is me, letting you go...

[Chorus:]
I was all for you, you fell over my love,
I just can't afford it this time.
I was all for you, you fell over my love,
Now I'm left with thoughts of
Suicide...

Let you go, you're killing me.

The song [expresses] that someone was lying the entire time this supposed mutual feeling was shared. The words "know what i deserve, know that i should let you go, this is me, letting you go" really mean everything at this point. As the song slows down, shay and I wanted to make it feel like you were literally letting [go of] this heartbreak [and] this memory. You care about someone so much, and they do something to completely and blatantly hurt you, [so] you have to move on and do something for yourself.

This right here is the meaning to my life and to that of my best friend. We are always pushed around by guys and we take it. We are fed these lies that there is really something there but in the end it was just a way to get what they wanted. We fell hard for these guys and every time they need something we go back to them because even though it was fake for them it was real for us. They used our feeling and our love for them to get ahead or make another jealous. We lost everything for them and gained nothing in return. All we got out of it was heartache, heartache and a will to see the day where they feel the same. But in all reality we have had many opportunities to see this exact thing we so greedily wanted but never had the courage to take them. Instead we bowed to their will again and again. When finally we couldn't take it anymore. I said that like there is finality to it when really it lasted maybe a day or two, possibly three. So here we are again back at the beginning my friend back to waiting on the guys hand and foot, and me? I'm stuck her looking on as the one guy I actually let my heart grow fond for, is going around with a new girl a night wondering why I wasn't good enough. Wondering what I did that makes all of those other women greater than I. We just always go back to that feeling of being wanted even if it hurts us in the process, which inevitably it always does.

This beatifull song is about letting go. When you meat that one person that means everything to you and they just lie to you and they just destroy everything and you love that person so much but they done this to you many times and you just can't afford to forgive them anymore so you're letting go, and at the end of the song when it starts getting slow, they wanted to make it seem like you truly are letting go. And let live agian! Btw Austin said this I'm just posting it here in my own words.

This song was about how Austin Carlile-the singer and screamer for Of Mice Men- had a very hard time with his drug addiction and had left him nothing in the end. I think it's partly about love and it lead to heart brake so that lead to drug use. " let it go and let live again " he saying let go of the drug and let him live again. I do not know what drug it is but I think it's heroin. And like everyone else is saying it is so yes.

Fits the break up with my ex very well. I gave her all I could, and she threw all my love away and didn't talk to me for months. I was left with suicidal thoughts, and the feeling of hopelessness. Anyway, the song to me starts with two people falling in love, and giving the boy (i guess this would be austin carlile) the true meaning of happiness. All he has to remember her is their memories. He then makes himself think, or this may be true she never actually cared in the first place, and he lived in her lie of her love for him. He tried to give her everything, and she wouldn't care, and she'd take it for granted, and he then ended things with her for good, but still remained to hurt, left with nothing but suicidal thoughs. He feels as if she's slowly killing him inside.

I'm honestly still stuck between it either being about drugs or about his ex-wife. At first I thought it was about a drug addictions as he says "met a drug that changed my life" and "let her in through these very veins", but this would lead to me thinking it's about heroin, and if austin wrote this song then I think it's very doubtful that someone who had never tried marijuana until only recently would be addicted to cocaine. Unregistered on jan 3rd 2012 makes a very good point about the ex-wife and I lean more towards their theory as on the album let live is right before and syncs in perfectly with still ydg'n which I know for certain is about his ex-wife cheating on him. So yeah, I guess unless there's an interview of him talking about this song then it's for you to decide which message he's trying to give here.
