Panic! At The Disco – Behind The Sea lyrics
A daydream spills from my corked head
And breaks free of my wooden neck
Left to nod over sleeping waves
Like bobbing bait for bathing cod
Floating flocks of candled swans
Slowly drift across wax ponds

The men all played along to marching drums
And boy did they have fun behind the sea
They sang, "so our matching legs are marching clocks
And we're all too small to talk to God
Yes, we're all too smart to talk to God"

Toast the fine folks casting silver crumbs
To us from the dock.
Jinxed things ringing as they leak
Through tiny cracks in the boardwalk.
Scarecrow now it's time to hatch
Sprouting suns and ageless daughters.

Don't you know that those watermelon smiles just can't ripen underwater
Just can't ripen underwater

The men all played along to marching drums
And boy did they have fun behind the sea
They sang, "so our matching legs are marching clocks
And we're all too small to talk to God
Yeah, we're all too smart to talk to God
Oh, we're all too smart to talk to God

Ohh, legs of wood waves
Waves of wooden legs, waves of wooden legs
Legs of wood waves
Waves of wooden legs, waves of wooden legs
Legs of wood waves
Waves of wooden legs, waves of wooden legs
Legs of wood waves
Waves of wooden legs, waves of wooden legs

(Ohhhhhhhh, phew)

(So close)

Okay, so I've been listening to this song. Trying to figure it out. I think--only think, so if you disagree, don't get on my case--that it has something to do with a war--and I'm not sure which one(it could be a World War or anything.)
    Think about it.
"A daydream spills from my corked head, breaks free of my wooden neck..." Maybe this is referring to a hope for peace, and the fact that it's been drilled into our minds that this is still a battle for our well being and we as the you. S. Come before all else--last part the wooden neck thing.
"The men all played along to marching drums, and boy did they have fun, behind the sea." Maybe this means that--thinking in the sense that marching drums symbolizes soldiers--they are on another continent--Behind the sea or on the other side of it.
"We're all too small to talk to God...we're all too smart to talk to God." Possibly saying that putting our faith in a higher power didn't do any good in ending war.
As I continue writing this I'm thinking it's a world war.
"Toast the fine folk casting silver crumbs to us from the dock." People throwing confetti--or just expressing relief and joy--at the port where the soldiers get off a ship coming back from war.
"Jinxed things ringing as they leak through tiny cracks in the boardwalk."(maybe my imaginations gone away with me, but.) Ringing means the memory of gunshots while they're walking into the welcoming arms of their families.
"Scarecrows now it's time to hatch sprouting suns and ageless daughters." If it were wwii then I'd say it means that the horrors are going behind us and now (maybe) woman are developing rights and becoming more a part of society--"ageless."
"Matching legs are marching clocks." Men marching in rhythm, all at the same exact time--military, in other words.
I may or may not be wrong, but this was how I heard it.

    This cd is amazing.
It takes me a long time to figure out the songs.
I think that the people who diss this cd(and song) need to see that they've grown older and their music tastes and playing have grown along with it. Their old cd had a lot to do with love and cheating and religion. This cd(I think) has more to do with real world problems and things of real importance(not that love and religion aren't important but still).
I think Panic At The Disco have grown into a new shell and love it. We, as the fans, need to realize that and grow with them or leave them behind. So, basically what I'm trying to say is that Panic is still amazing and always will be, weather or not they stick with this type music.
    Love Panic forever.
(Sorry, not a meaning but I agree with 2012. I kept listening to this song and figured, not exact but generally, the same thing.)
