Paramore – For A Pessimist I'm Pretty Optimistic lyrics
Just talk yourself up...
And tear yourself down.
You've hit your one wall...
Now find a way around.
Well, what's the problem?
You've got a lot of nerve!

So what did you think I would say?
No, you can't run away, no you can't run away.
So what'd you think I would say?
No, you can't run away, No you can't run away.
You wouldn't.

I never wanted to say this...
You never wanted to stay.
I put my faith in you, so much faith,
And then you just threw it away.
You threw it away.

I'm not so naive.
My sorry eyes can see...
The way you fight shy,
Of almost everything.
Well, if you give up...
You'll get what you deserve.

So what did you think I would say?
No, you can't run away, No you can't run away.
So what did you think I would say?
No, you can't run away, No you can't run away
You wouldn't

I never wanted to say this...
You never wanted to stay.
I put my faith in you, so much faith,
And then you just threw it away.
You threw it away.

You were finished long before
We had even seen the start.
Why don't you stand up, be a man about it?
Fight with your bare hands about it now.

I never wanted to say this. (say this)
You never wanted to stay, well did you?
I put my faith in you, so much faith,
And then you just threw it away.

I never wanted to say this...
You never wanted to stay.
I put my faith in you, so much faith,
And then you just threw it away.

This song relates to me. Two years ago my friend and I had a fall out, the reason being she'd changed. Personality, looks. She wasn't the friend I wanted anymore. We then fell out like you would. She ripped me in half said I was meaningless, she wasn't the person I liked as a friend. In the end I realised that I shouldn't of trusted her. Trust takes years to make and seconds to break. In my eyes the song is abut putting your faith and trust into someone and they blow it!

Well, I relate this song to my personal story, because it fits it very well.
I had a boyfriend, but we were having many troubles, and then I met another guy. We became friends easily, and there was a lot of feeling between us. Finally, I broke up with my boyfriend because I didn't love him anymore, and I felt my heart so free, because I wasn't loving anyone.
But then I realized I was in love with this other guy, and I knew that he had been having a crush on me since several months. But in the moment he knew I liked him, he started acting completely different, as if we were almost strangers.
So, he "gave up before we started", because of his past. A girl before me left her boyfriend to be with him, and it didn't work. He thinks I've left my boyfriend because of him, and that's not true. "He hit a wall and tries to find a way around"
Long story, sorry if I bored you. And btw, I don't know if it is understandable, because I'm not english and my english is not perfect.

I think the song is basicaly saying how the guy never even tried or put his part in the relationship and she did and she tried and believed in him. She didn't put him down and thought he would come through, but he never he tried and never gave it a chance. So they never got far and he proved her wrong, even though she thought he could do it and was so opptimistic with him.

So here's my story. Sorry if it's annoying!*)
So I was with this dude his name was Cody Ryan Gehrer, From Guthrie. And we became really close, or atleast in my eyes we were. He dated my best friends, and helped me with a ton of family issues. We were best friends, but then we dated. The first time I broke up with him because all the family issues became to much to bare! But he was still there and after awhile we dated again. Long story short ~ people are not who they appear to be! Watch your back! *((*

The wryly titled "For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic" stems from what Josh reflects as "putting your faith in someone and they blow it." But in the writing of the song, he saw that his faith in his bandmates was not misplaced: "I wrote the music specifically to be awesome live and to be extremely energetic. It all came out at once. I showed it to Hayley and she just nailed it lyrically. She completely got the feeling I wanted the song to have." -Josh Farro: Paramore Lead Guitar.

No, no, no. This is song is about how, girls always think things through, and over analyze everything, and guys, on the other hand, just don't care. They all have their insecurities and problems, he was so scared of getting close to her, and giving her everything, that he practically shut her out, he built up a wall, and now he's got find a way around it, cause he screwed up by not giving her everything, so she's saying, you gve up before we even started, she had so much faith in him, that he comuld suck it up and actually try to work things out in the relationship byut instead he sucked, and just gave up on a good thing. Cause guys, just don't care, and when they do, they scare themselves off by bulding up a wall with their girlfriends, and they can't find a way to get out of the hole they dug themselves, so they just give up a good thing.
    I know, amazing. (:

The song means having a person on your side that doesn't wanna be with you is a person who has thrown faith and trust from the person who gave it to them. Also meaning that she trusted in him so much that she just can't take it anymore because of how he doesn't wanna be around the one he doesn't like. Its like he used her for a reason that is very stupid.

I think this song means that even though she likes him and he doensn't like her, she is still giving hima chance to leave her to find someone else but he is staying just because he wants to hurt her. Personally I hate those kind of guys, they suck. Guys, we like you but if your going to hurt us just leave, we don't want to be hurt!
