Phoenix – Run Run Run lyrics
Business calls me
Trouble down the waterfront
You know, I tried to
Now I'm running outta lies
It's a clear view
When all you is gettin' paid
No more favors
I know what we can do about it
I think I'd better run, run, run, run
I think I'd better run, run, run, run
You didn't catch me fallin'
Fallin' fallin' fallin' fallin'
Fallin' fallin' fallin'
Contradictions
Get me everything I want
I'll let you know
But I think it's gonna take a while
It's a clear view
Noone's waiting at the door
A million letters
They couldn't make me change my mind
I think I'd better run, run, run, run
I think I'd better run, run, run, run
You didn't catch me fallin'
Fallin' fallin' fallin' fallin'
Fallin' fallin' fallin'
How you want I to be
Sittin' by the waterfront
I should be drifting
Far enough to reach the shore
It's a clear view
Don't you underestimate me
No more flavors
I know I can live whitout it
I think I'd better run, run, run, run
I think I'd better run, run, run, run
You didn't catch me fallin'
Fallin' fallin' fallin' fallin'
Fallin' fallin' fallin'
If you got to play the game
You got got to do it well
I think I'd better run, run, run, run
& leave those things for someone else
But I like it
I don't even care
If you got to play the game
You got to do it well

In the last verse about the waterfront, he is sitting at his emotional landscape imagining that he should have drifted far by now, or in other words be father along on the road to success. But he says to himself and others "don't you underestimate me".

"No more flavors I know that I can live without it" could be him stating that he can live without the extra things that are added to make life better, but distract him from true happiness. For example, salt can make something taste better, but then it can also prevent you from precieving the true taste of the food you put it on. Similarly, a fancy car or drugs or money can make life feel better for some people, but at a certain point people will realize that they don't bring true happiness and will considering living without them.

TL;DR I love this song because to me it is about someone following their own truth and emotions, and running away from a life of superficiality.

He says he doesn't want to do any more favors, which implies that he is not working for his own joy, but for others. He mentions he's just getting paid.

But he has an idea, to run. To run before then can catch him falling, or in other words see him failing. Which is already starting to happen at the waterfront. But he will take heed there and not fall.

Contradictions get him everything he wants, in the next verse about the water front. I think the contradictions are his spiritual or philosophical ideas. Ideas such as all is one, when clearly everything appears to not be just one thing. The are many spiritual truths that seem contradictory.
He also realizes that no one is at his door, but he has a million letters trying to get him to change his mind. Change his mind and tell him to come back and not run. The contradiction of them saying they want him back, but not showing up for him could be the closure that he wanted that proves he's better off away when people only pretend to care for him.

To me, this song is about staying true to your inner-self and your emotions instead of selling yourself out to society which can be full of corruption and lies at times.

The waterfront represents the characters emotional self. At first it is in need of help and attention. He says lies can't help patch up the situation because he has ran out of them. Lies can't help his emotion feel better any more.
