Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication lyrics
Psychic spies from China
Try to steal your mind's elation
Little girls from Sweden
Dream of silver screen quotations
And if you want these kind of dreams
It's Californication

It's the edge of the world
And all of western civilization
The sun may rise in the East
At least it settles in the final location
It's understood that Hollywood
Sells Californication

Pay your surgeon very well
To break the spell of aging
Celebrity skin is this your chin
Or is that war your waging

[Chorus:]
First born unicorn
Hard core soft porn
Dream of Californication
Dream of Californication

Marry me girl be my fairy to the world
Be my very own constellation
A teenage bride with a baby inside
Getting high on information
And buy me a star on the boulevard
It's Californication

Space may be the final frontier
But it's made in a Hollywood basement

Cobain can you hear the spheres
Singing songs off station to station

And Alderon's not far away
It's Californication

Born and raised by those who praise
Control of population everybody's been there
And
I don't mean on vacation

[Chorus:]
First born unicorn
Hard core soft porn
Dream of Californication
Dream of Californication
Dream of californication
Dream of californication

Destruction leads to a very rough road
But it also breeds creation
And earthquakes are to a girl's guitar
They're just another good vibration
And tidal waves couldn't save the world
From Californication

Pay your surgeon very well
To break the spell of aging
Sicker than the rest
There is no test
But this is what you're craving

[Chorus:]
First born unicorn
Hard core soft porn
Dream of Californication
Dream of Californication
Dream of californication
Dream of californication

There's an incredibly interesting reference in this song, in the line 'Cobain can you hear the spheres singing songs off Station to Station? '
Kurt Cobain sung for the band Nirvana and the drummer from Nirvana, Dave Grohl, now sings for a band called Foo Fighters, as well as ex-Nirvana guitarist, Pat Smear being a guitarist for the same band. 'Foo fighter' was a term coined in wwii to describe strange ufos and aerial phenomena which appeared to be burning, floating spheres. Nirvana used to cover songs off an album called Station to Station, by David Bowie, and after his death, Foo Fighters began to cover these songs as tribute to Cobain. This line is a question posed to Cobain, asking if he is able to hear his friends covering songs in his memory.

The songs message is very meaningful for me because it is clearly said that most of the people especially girls, nowadays is very insecure in their physical appearance that's why most of them used their bloody money for plastic surgery instead of donating it for the poor. So I hope they would understand that it's not about the outer beauty but the importance of living a life with simplicity and free from worries and hatred. Spread the love.

Well almost, Nirvana used to cover 1 song from David Bowie, which was The Man Who Sold The World. That the Chilis are referencing Station To Station, and not tmwstw, makes sense on another level (other than that it rhymes far better!), as it's the album Bowie recorded when he was living in Hollywood and had his own Californication thing going on. Look it up, it fits in quite perfectly with the whole idea, or message, of the song.

This song should be the US national anthem! I think it's all about Hollywood and the media and how we live our lives. You know, people fear aging these days and get plastic surgery done to look like a Hollywood star. There's also references to Nirvana and Kurt Cobain. "Cobain, can you hear the spheres singing off station to station?" is probably a reference to Foo Fighters. But other than that stuff, there's a lot of things in here that hint that the world, especially America, is getting more and more advanced and even brainwashing. The lovely, romantic scenes we see in movies are all a work of fiction, and when we see them in movies, it should all be common sense that it's not how love truly works. But of course, Hollywood has brainwashed us
