Rusty Draper – Freight Train lyrics
[Chorus:]
Freight train, freight train, going so fast
Freight train, freight train, going so fast
I don't know care what train I'm on
As long as it keeps rolling on

Don't know where I'm headed for
Makes no difference anymore
Got no future, got no hope
Can't do nothing now but roam

[Chorus:]

When my baby left my side
Something deep inside me died
Got to keep a-moving on
Til the memory of her is gone

[Chorus:]

When I die, just bury me please
Way down the end of old Chestnut Street
Poplars at my head and feet
And tell her that I've gone to sleep

[Chorus:]

This song was written by Elizbeth Cotton, as most every one knows. Born to 1890 she write this when she was 13 Years old. It was sang by many folk singers, who always put there own words to it. Using primally the first part. Some had big hits with it. Miss cotton died at the age of about 93. Never getting any money from it.
