Sara Bareilles – Brave lyrics
You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing’s gonna hurt you the way that words do
And they settle ‘neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

Everybody’s been there, everybody’s been stared down
By the enemy
Fallen for the fear and done some disappearing
Bow down to the mighty

Don’t run, stop holding your tongue
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

Innocence, your history of silence
Won’t do you any good
Did you think it would?
Let
your words be anything but empty
Why don’t you tell them the truth?

Say
what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you.

Everyone will get bullied once in a while, and that should not let you down. If people hurt you (or your feelings), you should not be shy to speak out and tell people the truth. You should not be overcome by fear, you should free yourself by standing up to them. It's better to make it stop than keep your feeling bottled inside, and you should have the confidence to do so. I think this song was persuasive in telling you to stand up to bullying and it inspired me. You should recommend it to your friends to teach them this important message. I'm not bullied but this song reminds me of when I was and I feel very proud of myself when I hear this song.

I Think this song is about standing up for your self and not letting people criticize you and, well ya know, being brave and telling the truth about what you think and really don't care what other people think about you, and that you should not be a bystander and shouldn't neal to other people.

To me, this song epitomizes the process of "coming out" and embracing yourself as an individual, and not just for individuals who happen to identify as LGBTQ etc. but also for others (as well) who struggle with their individuality and worth as human beings, people who have felt like they have no voice or say in their own lives or how others perceive them. If anything, the lyrics in this song are to encourage the listener to take control of themselves, to take advantage of their individuality and whatever else makes them unique, in essence, the message is to be yourself and proud of whoever you are as a person! Instead of being ashamed of certain characteristics about you that may make you different, unpopular or even hated, love those things about yourself since it's the first step to the process of loving who you are to begin with! For many, this does involve having to "come out" of the proverbial closet as someone who is gay, bi, or trans*, someone with autism, someone who's a survivor of years of abuse, and other situations in which an individual requires a certain degree of bravery (thus the name of the song) to admit and/or take ownership of having gone through. Being able to live your life without feeling constantly bothered by shame and fear is, after all, a key part in being happy as a human being to begin with.

I think that this songs purpose is to let people say what they want to say about you and just let them be. I think this because during the course it says "Say what you wanna say! And let the words fall out, Honestly i wanna see you be brave." This shows that you shouldn't worry about what somebody else says and worry about what you have to do because it says I wanna see you be brave. The word "Brave" represents take the pain and move on to a place where you don't have to worry about the rude comments somebody else says.

For me, You have to be Brave. Ignore people who criticize you. I was inspired by this song. I was bullied by my classmates since I was in grade school, they told me that was too skinny. Now that I grown up. When someone bullied me, I just stand up and said "this is the real me, and I'm proud of it because I'm contented".

You always need to be brave and do not let all the words. I am bullied but when I hear this song. I stepped out of the shato and I told them that I was going to be brave by reading this. I hope this would help you be brave be yourself.

Stop hiding what you really feel. Don't bottle it up inside, trying to please someone else by keeping your mouth shut, by going along. Stop being false. Just let the words fall out, honestly. It is hard to take the risk, but your history of silence hasn't done anyone any good. Take the risk; be real. Be honest, transparent. It's okay; be you. Be brave. Silence is your prison; go ahead and speak honestly. The truth will set you free.
