Okay. It seems like I may be the first person to decipher what this may mean. So please try to follow my flow:.
I think the song is about a power struggle to certain degree and there maybe a conversation between two sides. The first verse, even in the music there's the very strong drums and his voice sounds chilling when he says:.
If I were you I think I'd shut my mouth.
Cause with a tongue like that I think I'd cut it out.
I'll make you shiver when I turn rocks into rivers like moses.
And if we lose our way, i'll pray that god just shows us.
He sounds like he knows he's in power. Right? But then he says:.
This is the response to "i pray god shows us" line. The responder is saying you told it was over basically.
The last time we spoke, you seemed much older, colder.
The last time we made eyes, you said it was over, thank god it's over.
The same thing with the 2nd verse for the most part, but then seabird says:.
"oh how much time we waste, wearing our bullet proof vests.
When our feet our made of god to speed through life and death.
Just think about what the purpose of bullet proof vest is. Let's think of all the characteristics of a bullet proof vest. Um. Obviously they protest us from bullets, but the main point being "protection". Power requires protection, there's a facade of "no weakness", and the singer of the song is saying, we waste so much time paying attention to the little things--our little spots of weakness, when in actuality god has gifted us with power of his love to get through it rather quickly in hindsight.

Take into consideration, what I've told you the conversation portion, and about one of them being in power. What this means to "me" is because the person in power messed up, they have to go into hiding. They are avoiding the gun, which may represent judgement, or irrational injustice, repercussions of some sort.
