Steel Pulse – Unseen Guest lyrics
I survive

Jah Jah watch over I. ..
Evil, what you, what you sonna do? Yeh,
Jah Jah watch over I, yeh
Convicted and restricted still...
Jah watch over I
Evil, what you, what you gonna do? Yeh
Jah Jah watch over I yeh
Physically defeated I,

I felt a stroke at the crack of dawn yeh,
And I paralyse my mind, my imagination, To my execution
To every anil of death I heard
I count the links to which I'm bound eh...

Chorus

Down in the dungeon
I heard them constructing, the scaffold
Where. .. I'll be lynched aloft high
The thoughts of me to die
Rocking like a pendulum,
Anyway it does'nt matter cause
I'll be swinging to the rhythms of heh.

Chorus

Hey! Victory!
Dragged From my dwellings of
Pre-death confinement
Where rats and beetles molest,
Romp with the hay.
I was off to a rope and man powered wild flight
I was: entering into another world and
Same time me deh - yah
Deh - weh - me - deh a hol-lar
A hollar, a hollar, a hollar,
Just a laugh heh.

Chorus

Jah Jah watch over I
Evil, what you Sonna do. Jah Jah

"jah watch over i, evil! What you, what you gonna do? " -david hinds, steel pulse lyricist.
    "i survive! "
That's how this classic tune begins after a jah-inspired instrumental introduction from england's best-ever reggae band.
The great david hinds and steel pulse use one of their many magnificent metaphors in unseen guest-one of their most hard-hitting tunes. Here, hinds is singing in first person as a man convicted to be executed by hanging. On the dawn of his death, hinds awakes to the sound of the hangman's scaffold being constructed. But, hinds cracks a smile and chuckles: "just a laugh, yeh! Jah watch over i... "
Unseen's guest's main theme is jah ras tafari's spiritual victory over satan's demons, prisons [of the mind] and pitfalls that could leave one hanging in babylon:.
"i spirit rise and live, with a guest, me trod to victory. Jah spirit rise and live, with a guest, me trod to victory. "
The song, too, touches on themes including the victory of good over evil, the life of a struggler down in the ghetto [down in the dungeon], and above all--strong belief in jah ras tafari.
In the lyrics, with faith strong enough to move mountains, hinds taunts the grim reaper: "evil! What you gonna do? "
And about the noose and his hanging, hinds sings, "rocking like a pendulum, i'll be rocking to the [reggae] rhythm of it. "
The compsotion reminds me of the swagger that elijah showed against baal's prophets.
Hinds' outro emphasizes jah trodding to victory, as elijah did with yahweh on his side. Hinds is rastari's ancient israelite king david. And steel pulse is just as or more talented than bob marley and the wailers.
It is, further, well known that hinds was marley's favorite lyricist at the time of bob's death. Both men, in any case, worship jah.
