Ted Nugent – Great White Buffalo lyrics
Well, listen everybody
To what I got to say
There's hope for tomorrow
Ooh, we're workin' on today
Well, it happened long ago
In the new magic land

The Indian and the buffalo
They existed hand in hand
The Indian needed food
He needed skins for a roof
But he only took what they needed, baby
Millions of buffalo were the proof

Yeah, it's all right

But then came the white man
With his thick and empty head
He couldn't see past the billfold
He wanted all the buffalo dead
It was sad... It was sad

Oh yeah
Yes, indeed
Oh, yes

It happened a long time ago, baby
In the new magic land
See, the Indian and the buffalo
They existed hand in hand
The Indians, they needed some food
And some skins for a roof
They only took what they needed, baby
Millions of buffalo were the proof, yeah

But then came the white dogs
With their thick and empty heads
They couldn't see past the billfold
They wanted all the buffalo dead

Everything was so sad

When I looked above the canyon wall
Some strong eyes did I see
I think it's somebody comin' around
To save my ass, baby
I think- I think he's comin' around
To save you and me

Boys
I said above the canyon wall
Strong eyes did glow
It was the leader of the land, baby

Oh my God
The great white buffalo!
Look out!!!! Look out!!!!!!!

Well, he got the battered herd
He led 'em 'cross the land
With the great white buffalo
They gonna make a final stand

The great white buffalo
Comin' around to make a final stand

Well, look out here he comes
The great white buffalo, baby
The great white buffalo
Look out, here he comes
He's doin' all right
Makin' everything all right

Yeah, yeah, yeah

To the person who said that this song is interesting because ted is a hunter. Yea ted may hunt, and yes he may take one when he hunts them but hes a strong advocate on nature and preserving it, and I'm pretty sure if you opened up his many freezers youd see lots of game meat that wasnt wasted. What hes saying is that if the whiteman regulated hunting back then like they do now, things would be different, we wouldnt have extinct or endangered species. You should read up on ted before making any judgement on him about nature things just because he hunts. I'm a meber of trout unlimited and I don't put my fish back, I take my limit and leave it at that for future fishermen like me.

You people are a bunch of thick & empty headed dumazzes.
You have totally overlooked the meaning of this kikkazz song.
The great white buffalo is the great spirit (god) to the indians (native americans). The indians co-existed with mother nature and only took what they needed. "waste not - want not"
    Which the indians did.
Then came greedy white man pursuing the almighty dollar & what do you have? Yep. The same mess we have today!
    Enter. The great white buffalo.
Look out! Look out! The leader of the land.
    The great white buffalo.
    He will save your azz.
    Save you & me.
Oh my god, the great white buffalo.
    The great white buffalo.
Coming to make a final stand!
    Look out! Here he comes.

We here in japan think you american budweiser smell like cheese to. Or old shoe socks that have not ben washed in long time. We do like the horses and t spot dog that ride on top of wagon. One of your 101 dalamations.
Kind of like a small white buffalo with a spots.
I see nugent in 1993 with your dam yankeess here in japan. He chew gum all during concert. Very disrepectful.
    Why he do that?

I like this song. But it is interesting he wrote it since he is a hunter. If ted was out hunting and came across some buffalo I'm sure he would probably take some shots with his bow. I mean he would not massacre a herd but he would probably take one. So I guess the song if his take on the white mans greed long ago when there were millions of buffalo.

If you have ever drank bud, you need to chew gum. I don't think ted drinks, so its possible he was just chewing gum as a treat. Gum is much better in japan. They still use chicle. Here in the states its a type of synthetic rubber. Ted does not carry a billfold. It is more of a biker wallet when he does. Most of the time he doesn't even carry one. He also goes commando.

This was one of ted's protest songs. He is blaming the white man or "white dogs" for their devastation of the buffalo herds for dirty lucre. He seems to see in the white buffalo a figure of redemption that may extend metaphorically to the indian nation that had existed "hand in hand' with nature before those who couldn't "see past their billfolds. " I assume ted wrote the lyrics to this one, but it seems odd given his more recent uncritical embrace of the same types he criticized in the song.

The native americans didn't use tables. They were too hard to move and carry. Also, who gave ted the authority to apologize for people that lived 200 years ago? He lived in detroit and near chicago. No buffalo / bison there. You can't just apologize without everyone agreeing who should apologize. What if he was in sincere?
I would rather had wilford brimley apologize.
American bison are only distantly related to the true asia and african.
Buffalo. Every native american language translates to "buffalo? " I don't think so. Please give evidence to that. There were more than 100 different languages. They all called a bison a buffalo? Makes no sense.

Thank you mr. Know it all. The white buffalo was a sacred sign, not god. If they only took what they needed,
please explain then, the native americans driving herds of buffalo over cliffs and the burning of forests for weeks on end just for fun. What civilization has only taken what they needed and no more? You watch too many movies. Yep, all white men were trash. Every last one of them. They all owned slaves. They all stole the native americans land. You included, no matter what color you are,
    by the way you think.

I too, was there when ted fell off his horse. He hurt his tail bone. Couldn't ride again for a week or so. He is ok now. Speaking of horses, does anyone know how many budweiser clydesdales there are? Someone said there are 60 total. I think that's a lot. I have tried to call budweiser, but I can not get a straight answer. I have an uncle that wants to know.

Kevin costner is the great white buffalo. In dances with wolves, they went out in the mountains to make a final stand. Ted nugent was an extra in the movie. I was there during the filming. He was in the buffalo hunting sequence. He road bareback without a shirt. If you look real close you can see him.
He wrote this song after he fell of a horse. We all went out for mcdonalds afterwards. It's was a long drive. I helped a bit with the song. I wrote the" he's doin alright part. " I wanted to have a positive feeling in the song. They're both nice guys.

This song is a statement about dave matthew's song "ants marching. " think about it. The white buffalo, ants marching in a herd. But the buffalo is doing alright. Not like the ants who don't even realize they are being lead by coporate america. Cell phones, starbucks coffee, the "must see" movie of the season. We, like the buffalo, can do without these things. Are our lives better off? People long ago, did not have these things. People in the future will have different things. But yet the buffalo, making a final stand now, realising this, is doing alright now without them. Ted is a genius! Peace.

I read a book the other day that claimed the buffalo would have over populated all of north america and evetually disrtoyed all the timber and grass lands. North america would have been a desert. The buffalo were multiplying faster than the indians could eat them. The indians would have been pushed to the sea. When columbus came, he would have found only desert and buffalo bones and america as we know it would not have existed.
