The Devil Wears Prada – Wapakalypse lyrics
Dear tomorrow,
Find some sensibility,
Respond to emotion.
Dear Politician,
Define sagacity,
One after another, nobody stands behind the ones they have chosen.
One after another, nobody stands behind the ones they've selected.
Nobody stands behind the nation they've selected.
All chances of survival are beginning to diminish.
Comedy is no excuse for our own blasphemies.
Mass media
Mass pessimism
Mass Denial,.
My television tells me to panic, but I don't think I'll listen.
The apathetic force us to persevere,
The apathetic, with their backwards priorities.
If only the strongest of stone was not necessary.
One after another, nobody stands behind the ones they have chosen.
One after another, nobody stands behind the ones they've selected.
Nobody stands behind the nation they've selected.
Liberation includes failure,
Your rebellion is resultless,
So be angry at yourself,
If only we did not deserve this.

While many of Mike's writings and much of what tdwp puts out is spiritually based, this song is purely political. Lyrics such as "Dear Politician; define sagacity", "Nobody stands behind the ones they've selected", "The apathetic force us to persevere", and finally "Your rebellion is resultless, So be angry at yourself" are all targeted at the American political system. Essentially, Mike is questioning the judgment of authoritarian political figures whilst reminding American voters that the people are solely responsible for the election of those in power. He points out that negative media reporting of government officials and dissatisfaction with those in office are basically meaningless due to the fact that the problem (elected politicians) was created by ignorant voters. Brilliant, brilliant song.

Nobody reads mike's mind, so we shouldn't say that this song is " purely political " or spiritual. However, it portrays quite clearly the mess that western democracy has become. Adult children refuse to vote out of apathy and rebellion and then go protest at wall street. They should be angry at themselves. You want change? Vote at the elections. Better yet, save up some money, go to law school or get yourself nominated for a seat somewhere in the government: -i do not know if the people of the united states would vote for superior men if they ran for office, but there can be no doubt that such men do not run. " (alexis de tocqueville, tocqueville: democracy in america). Make a change, stop talking. This is what I think of when I listen to this song.
