    The lyrics of this song reminds me that I am not alone. God is always with me and not be afraid, even in the darkest moments of my life. He will comfort me by calling my name. He is letting me know. He is always at my side, no matter if morning comes or not. I know I am not without. His saving grace and love. He will not ever forsake me, keep my faith in. Him and take heed in knowing there is no need to worry. He is with me no matter what may come. God is great. God is love. Be still and take comfort in. Him always.

    Yes, it can be derived that this song is about the comfort of god presence; that we are never truely alone. But I believe that it is about finding comfort in a person.
    "be still and know that i'm with you. "
    The person saying this could be a lover, a true friend, a soulmate, god or even a parent.
    The song to me is about knowing that you have someone who will always be there for you. A true bond of love.

    My sister was clinically depressed for a long time. Our mother was bipolar and we three girls lived our entire lives dealing with the effects of it. Now I am 72 and my sisters (twins) are 68 and one of them started showing bipolar symptoms. Each of us are separated geographically but we keep in touch via phone, email, and Skype. I’m the eldest and feel it is my responsibility to care for them emotionally. When I heard Be Still at the end of Paulie Perrette’s final NCIS appearance it touched my heart and I wanted to know the full lyrics. I Googled them and found this site. For me, I was speaking to my sister; I wanted to take away her fear and shame, and to tell her how much I miss her and that I call her name out loud. She couldn’t sleep and was scared of dying and I wanted to wrap my arms around her and comfort her, to tell her to be still. But she was in the valley with death approaching, she had lost her bearings. I wanted to be with her but I wasn’t. And she took her own life this past October. My prayer is that God brought her a new morning, where He could lead her through green pastures and tell her to be still as He restored her soul.
