twenty one pilots – March To The Sea lyrics
There's miles of land in front of us,
And we're dying with every step we take,
We're dying with every breath we make,
And all fall in line
.

A stranger's back is all I see,
He's only a few feet in front of me,
And all look left and right sometimes,
But all fall in line.

No one looks up anymore,
'Cause you might get a raindrop in your eye,
And heaven forbid, they see you cry,
As we fall in line.

And about this time of every year,
The Line will go to the ocean pier
,
And walk right off into the sea,
Then we fall asleep.

As we near the end of land,
And our ocean graves are just beyond the sand,
I ask myself the question, why
I fall in line.

Then out of the corner of my eye,
I see a spaceship in the sky,
And hear a voice inside my head:
"Follow me instead."[2x]

Follow me.

Then the wages of war will start,
Inside my head with my counterpart,
And the emotionless marchers will chant the phrase:
"This Line 's the only way."

Then I start down the sand,
My eyes are focused on the end of land,
But again the voice inside my head
Says, "Follow me instead."

Follow me instead.

Follow me.

Follow me instead.[4x]

Take me up. Seal the door.
I don't want to march here anymore.
I realize that this Line is dead,
So I'll follow you instead.

So then you put me back in my place,
So I might start another day,
And once again, I will be
In a march to the sea.

When Tyler talks about "falling in line" it means falling into depression and into suicidal thoughts. The sea is death. And the song talks about how close he got to death. The spaceship is hope and his friends and family telling him suicide isn't the right thing to do. "Nobody looks up anymore you might get a raindrop in your eye, heaven forbid they see you cry" is saying that instead of telling people that he wants to die and that he's sad, he's telling them he's fine, he can't look up means he can't tell people how he feels because then he'll cry in front of them and he will feel weak. "The emotionless marchers will chant the phrase" this lines the only way" is saying that when your suicidal the only thing you can think about is killing yourself. As someone who has gone through an suicide attempt I know that when you want to kill yourself its the only thing you can't think of, and it feels like suicide is the only way out of a shitty time in life. When he says "the war will start inside my head and with my counterpart" it is believed that his counter part is Blurry face. Blurry face is the one who tells him he isn't good enough, he looks bad, he should hurt himself and he should kill himself.

Please reach out to someone if you are feeling suicidal and know that you aren't alone and that people love you and will miss you so much if you leave them. You are not alone in the universe, even if it feels like you are, you aren't.

March to the sea, Tyler accept death, and is not saddened by it, but rather saddened by the time spent before it. What is sad is that most people go their entire life and never really live, spending a lifetime never really awake. That is what is sad. He does a great job illustrating the feeling we get when we are standing in a long line to do something. We stand quiet awkwardly avoiding the formation we are in by looking left or right or DOWN AT our phone, anything to avoid the reality of the quiet, line. We have been taught from a young age to from a line where ever we went, and in a weird way you get used to it and feel comfort in knowing everyone is in line feeling the same loneliness. That translates into being a follower as we get older not aware of what we are doing to ourselves by following the crowd knowing that pain will only come from choices, yet we still make them without thought. We need to think and question why we are so easily persuaded to accept the sleep walk through life, and if we are going to die anyways, why not take pride in this short time we have on earth to find a purpose And not let the fear of u happiness keep you from what you believe.
